  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with a variety of personnel at all levels of the organization.

  • Knowledge of basic budgeting principles.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Excel.

  • Experience creating visual aids such as flowcharts, diagrams, PowerPoint presentations, and step-by-step guidelines.

  • Experience balancing and reconciling, calculating variances and percentages.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP .

  • Experience in higher education budgeting processes and procedures.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to simplify complex processes.

  • Experience performing complex financial analysis, forecasts, and projections.

  • Ability to work with large data sets in Excel using intermediate to advanced spreadsheet skills.

  • Experience in conducting small group training sessions.

  • 3-5 years experience creating visual aids such as flowcharts, diagrams, PowerPoint presentations, and step-by-step guidelines.

  • Ability to work under general supervision, learn quickly, multi-task and prioritize workload and readjust as needed.

Job Description

The Budget Analyst reports to the Manager for Budgeting and Financial Analysis and will provide support to the other team members within the Budget Office and the Assistant Vice President of Budget & Planning. Support will include the preparation of financial reports, schedules, and models to provide accurate information to senior leadership. In addition, this position will work in a collaborative team environment, and provide quality customer service to account managers and assistants. Focus will be on day-to-day operational budget actions and variances, the creation of training materials as they relate to the new RCM budget model and training functions to include one-on-one training and small group training on departmental budgets.

Job Duties

  • Provide training in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings for campus budget managers and their assigned budgetary assistants. This may be done via on-line Zoom/Teams meetings, via phone, in person, or in classroom computer labs.

  • Create training manuals and documentation to support the new RCM budget model.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and SMEs to gather information and ensure accurate representation of processes.

  • Analyze and reconcile budget variances and coordinate resolutions.

  • Assist budget managers on a variety of issues including budget variances, HR actions as it relates to budgetary impacts, policy, procedure, and allowable usage of their funding.

  • Assist in preparation of the annual budget by updating the budget system, running queries, preparing spreadsheets and other documentation.

  • Prepare moderate to complex analysis of revenue forecast, financial reports, schedules, and overall university budget.
