Position Description

The Department of Engineering Technology (https://www.txst.edu/technology.html) is seeking applicants to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor to teach in the newly online Master of Science program in Engineering Management at Texas State University. Applicants with expertise in all areas related to engineering management are invited to apply, and particular consideration will be given to candidates with past online teaching experience in an engineering or industry management discipline. The individual selected for this position will be expected to teach masters level and some undergraduate courses, as departmental needs require. The selected candidate is also expected to secure external funding and to conduct and publish research in areas appropriate for an emerging research institution. Engagement in service to the university and the profession is also expected. This position is subject to the availability of funds.

Required Qualifications

For all ranks

  • An earned doctoral degree in an engineering or management (with an industrial focus) discipline.

  • An undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution, or a closely related field from a similarly accredited institution.

  • Excellent oral and written English language skills

For the rank of associate professor, in addition to those required above:

  • A demonstrated record of excellent teaching abilities

  • A strong record of research (as PI or co-PI) and peer-reviewed publications associated with external funding adequate to support students

  • A minimum of six years of teaching experience as a full-time faculty member in a related discipline

For the rank of professor, in addition to those required above:

  • A minimum of 12 years of teaching experience as a full-time faculty member in a related discipline

  • An established national reputation among peers and demonstrated leadership through service to the university, professional organizations, and community or government agencies.

The successful applicant will be offered the appropriate rank and title based on the established standards of the university and the Department of Engineering Technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry experience in engineering management, engineering or engineering technology.

  • Research interests and experience in fields complementary to those of other faculty in the department.

  • Professional certification and/or licensure in a related discipline.

  • Experience teaching courses in an online environment at the masters and/or undergraduate level.
