Antech Diagnostics Transportation Supervisor in San Leandro, California

PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Transportation Supervisor supervises day-to-day activities within the department, and contributes to the development of operating policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be able to perform all job duties and functions department

  • Supervises staff, assigns work, monitors activities and evaluates results and performance. Resolves escalated issues. Administers employment actions, provides coaching and guidance to staff and promotes staff training and development. Provides input to department policies and procedures.

  • Leads work activities of the department, planning and organizing work, providing for adequate staffing and resources and maintaining work on schedule so that ongoing customer satisfaction is maintained.

  • Be able to perform all job duties and functions of the department.

  • Contributes to maintenance of department equipment and other technical resources. Coordinates with internal personnel, vendors and others as needed to resolve issues and maintain ongoing functionality.

  • Maintain and restock supplies as needed by department.

  • Ensure that all Quality Assurance/Quality Control standards are met by staff.

  • Ensure that monthly audits are performed and documented.

  • Prepares reports, presentations and other information summarizing work activities. Prepares various analyses as needed to highlight issues and resolve questions.

  • Assist in development and management of financial budget requirements.

  • Provide business review information to Transportation Manager.

  • Consult with clients to explain or resolve issues and procedures.

  • Maintains knowledge of changes and developments in the industry affecting work activities. May participate in outside industry groups and forums related to business activities.

  • Reads, understands and follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures. Maintains clean and organized work area.

  • May be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 1-3 years previous experience in a fast paced production/distribution environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged standing/sitting/walking/driving

  • Fine dexterity with hands/steadiness

  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds; may occasionally need to lift 40 pounds; carrying up to 15 pounds for several minutes at a time

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with clients, supervisors and peers

  • Vision-requires constant mental visual attention to details as well as ability to see well in limited light scenarios

  • Balancing

  • Reaching/twisting

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Laboratory environment with potential biohazards present

  • Works under close to moderate supervision with limited latitude for independent judgment.

  • Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments.

  • Potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards. A complete list of such chemicals is available from department supervision.

The Target Pay Range for this position is $51,900-$61,000 annually. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.
