Summary

SUMMARY: The incumbent shall be responsible for providing support in patient care and in carrying out therapeutic activities as directed by the therapist in a interdisciplinary environment consistent with professional practices, state practice acts and ethical standards.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

  1. Assembles and disassembles equipment and accessories; maintains equipment; cleans or adjust equipment as necessary.

  2. Maintains adequate supply of cleaning agents, personal protective equipment, assistive devices, linen and other miscellaneous items.

  3. Monitor and maintain inventory of therapy supplies and notify the employee responsible for ordering supplies to maintain PAR levels.

  4. Assists in specific treatment of patients including preparing patient for treatment, observing patients during treatment, and assisting patients at the conclusion of treatment with supervision.

  5. Assists patients in ambulation activities for orientation and endurance; utilizes appropriate assistive devices with supervision.

  6. Monitors the patient during the modality session as directed by the therapist.

  7. Renders routine strengthening exercises with a variety of equipment; renders routine passive, active and/or active assists range of motion with supervision.

  8. Assists with assigning patients to therapy teams.

  9. Maintains daily temperature logs for all necessary therapy equipment and appliances.

  10. Assists with transportation of patients.

  11. Maintains the gym areas so they are clean and well organized.

  12. Maintains donated clothing by cleaning, folding and organizing.

  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Experience: Experience in a hospital or other health care environment and/or customer interaction experience.

Required Licenses/Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
