Vice President of Product and Test Operations

Job Description

​​​​​​ About Operations Engineering Division (OED): OED is the central team that supports all Business Unit Design and Development teams, and other organizations including Sales, Marketing, Business Operations, Foundry Operations, and Test. OED provides a platform for managing all process technology and PDK development for both Internal and External Foundry processes. This strong and highly qualified team (mostly MS/PhD) adds strength in developing Test Technology, Foundry Operations, and Yield management. Our world class contributions lead to aggressive NPI strategies and continual cost and gross margin improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities: Lead a worldwide team of Product and Test Operations. Internal Test ops responsibilities include capacity modeling, capex investment, economics of test, OEE, R&D infrastructure management, Gross Margin Improvement, budget management and PLM tool integration. Test Operations OSAT responsibilities include Test Manufacturing Release into OSATs, spare and consumable management, test requirements specifications, test output optimization, RMA support, OSAT audit and test QA, Test BOM PLM. Product Operations responsibilities include, test production support, yield and OEE improvement initiatives, prototype builds, RMA and manufacturing escalation resolution, OSAT Audits/QBR/QTR.

  • Maintain skills to ensure competence to perform assigned responsibilities.

  • Execute on key technology roadmaps and designs from U.S. R&D sites.

  • Expertly interface among OED Engineering teams (including Process Technology, PDK Development, Quality) and Product Groups and Sales/Marketing to ensure smooth NPI to Ramp execution.

  • Drive programs from initiation through delivery, interfacing with all key stakeholders across functions on technical matters.

  • Drive internal and external Manufacturing organizations to ensure required quality and on-time delivery.

  • Define, develop, and execute plans of record, including schedules, deliverables, and risks.

  • Use verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. May require strong negotiation and powers of influence.

  • Exercise creativity to innovate new processes and procedures to achieve established objectives.

  • Manage program metrics and identify when they deviate significantly from Plan of Record.

  • Escalate issues in a timely manner and propose and collaborate on corrective actions.

  • Lead/Contribute (choose 1) to assigned process definition, documentation, management, and continual improvement to align with key stakeholders’ needs and requirements.

  • Align with manager’s goals and initiatives to meet agreed-upon KPIs.

  • Work independently with little supervision and make decisions that have up to moderate financial and customer impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, function-related discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • 20+ years’ experience working in semiconductor Operations or Engineering.

  • Demonstrated performance in process tech, PDK, and CAD activities with technical understanding of semiconductor ICs, design flows, EDA tools, device and process technology.

  • Global team management experience including Asia Pacific, North America, and Europe.

  • Track record of execution for process tech, PDK/CAD engineering KPIs.

  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders in a collaborative manner and appropriate level of tension.

  • Change champion able to identify, implement, and execute new processes to continuously improve and challenge organizations.

  • High degree of professionalism to represent our division and Renesas in customer meetings and other formal reviews/negotiations.

  • Motivated, committed, and career-driven to learn new techniques and emerging technologies.

Additional, Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, other function-related discipline, or BA/MA in Business Administration.

  • Technical Program Management certification.

  • Language proficiency (written or verbal): Japanese or Chinese.

Additional Information

The expected annual pay range for this position is $260,500 – $325,500. This position is also eligible for STI bonus opportunities. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
