Job Description
The job opening is for a full-time RandD engineer to conduct research and development in the area of head development for Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR). Responsibilities can include the design of the optical system, including a planar waveguide, a mode converter, a laser diode, and a near-field transducer; characterization of the optical system, initiating and developing intellectual property; and publishing and presenting scientific results at conferences.
Qualifications
- Minimumof Ph.D degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field.
- Industrial experience is desired but not required.
- The candidate should have demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas:modeling of planar lightwave circuits, which includes waveguide, mode converter, and/or grating couplers; modeling of plasmonic devices; and design of optical characterization tools for optical devices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a project in research and/or advanced development is desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment are essential.
