What You'll Do

You will partner with product managers, designers, engineers, and marketing colleagues to help them make informed decisions by independently executing user research studies and providing meaningful insight throughout the lifecycle. This includes responsibility for engaging with users, customers and prospects to understand their true needs and aspirations.

As one of the first user researchers within Cloud and Compute, you will play a key role in building the user experience research field and culture. You will influence short and long-term product strategies and innovation by bringing life to user insights.

Who You'll Work With

You will be working closely with a multi-disciplinary team that includes designers, product managers, engineers and others to drive differentiated value through Cisco Intersight and the products and capabilities it frontends. Intersight is an innovative management platform delivered as a service for Cisco and 3rd party IT infrastructure. It enables IT organizations to analyze, optimize, and automate their IT infrastructure.

You naturally curious and empathetic. You know the role of user research and how it fits into product development. You are highly motivated to see your efforts make a meaningful difference in the product direction and user experience. Be a self-starter and work with minimal direction to quickly deliver high-quality insights and better enable the team to deliver an outstanding user experience and features that home in on true user needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Have an advanced degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years of proven experience in a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.

  • Led multiple research projects in an enterprise setting, that have had direct business impact.

  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills; a self-starter that is able to collaborate actively with others in a cross-functional team.

  • You aim high, but perfection isn't an obstacle when pragmatism is vital.

  • A passion and curiosity in researching product experience for sophisticated users (e.g. IT, developers, DevOps), and technology trends of IT.

  • Experience in crafting and facilitating collaborative workshops for brainstorming, prioritizing, and problem-solving.

  • Expertise researching, developing, socializing user personas and job to be done.

  • Interest and skill in mentoring junior researchers.
