Cisco SDK Software Development Engineer in San Jose, California

This role is hybrid in San Jose, CA.

What You'll Do

This team develops and modifies APIs to implement functions for Cisco's cutting edge networking ASICs. You will support and integrate existing APIs and rewrite code to fit into existing SDK structures. You will debug and resolve ASIC queries and resolve software issues. We develop initialization and test procedures to verify ASIC operation and manage the transition of the ASIC into a production environment.

You will collaborate multi-functionally with architects, developers, within Cisco throughout the ASIC and product development life cycle, and closely collaborates with the ASIC design group and Application support group solving sophisticated problems along the way.

Who You Are

You are a hard-working individual, dedicated to designing software and debugging innovative networking ASICS. You have a strong technical foundation and are continuously eager to learn. You demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to identify and debug software APIs during the design and testing phases. You understand software design and can clearly articulate ideas, discuss design concepts, and collaborate with team members effectively.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer engineering, or equivalent.

  • Bachelors + 5 years of experience, or Masters + 3 years of related experience

  • Extensive experience with software systems design tools and languages such as: C, C++ and/or Python.

  • Experience writing and performing test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.

Preferred requirements:

  • TCL experience.

  • Experience working with Emulator and Simulator environments.

  • Experience in overall architecture of software systems: Linux kernel drivers

  • Design and integrate software systems running on multiple platforms into overall architecture.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical and problem- solving skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options.
