Job purpose

  • Supervise is responsible for the overseeing of the quality assurance department and ensure the highest standards are met throughout the production process. As needed perform inspection activities in the following areas: Receiving Inspection electrical and mechanical, In-process and Final areas of product. Inspect, audit, and report the quality level of incoming and outgoing products, ensuring that all customer quality requirements are being met such as: appearance, fit, form, function; including on time delivery of shipments. Properly interpret customer documentation, drawings/blueprints, Bills of Material (BOM), datasheets and specifications and other documents necessary to perform or direct inspection duties. Must be available to work over-time. Cross-train in other areas or perform other duties as required, by the Quality Manager.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Monitoring and inspecting production to verify quality standards are upheld.
  • Training and supervising the quality assurance staff.
  • Developing and implementing quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Investigate customer complaints and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to maintain quality of incoming materials.
  • Perform Quality Assurance tasks as needed to support business and customer requirements:
  • Perform first article/piece inspection of parts at the beginning of each production run and verify requirements are met. Report discrepancies of material, process or design issues. Interface with Production, Inside Sales, Engineering, Program Management and Customer Representative.
  • Perform roving sample inspection and quality audits in designated areas per documentation package to include drawings, BOM, and other procedures to ensure continuous flow of acceptable products to our customers. Ensure conformity to customers documentation and report in-process concerns and discrepancies using IPC workmanship criteria. Interface with Production and Engineering personnel.
  • Perform 100% final inspection to ensure the quality of materials, processes and overall quality performance has been achieved prior to shipping to Customers. Ensure that all acceptance and/or discrepancies have been documented. Interface with Production, Inside Sales, Engineering, Program Management and Customer Representatives.
  • Perform mechanical and visual inspections in Receiving Inspection and mechanical areas to ensure the quality of incoming Turn-Key material and other services. Maintain quality records for evaluation of performance outside Vendors and throughout internal processes. Research customer history and use experience to determine part acceptance when a decision is needed based on judgment. Act independently and resolve problems by exercising initiative and discretion outside the sphere of specifically described job duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • IPC-610 trained with prior manufacturing experience, knowledge of soldering and component recognition
  • Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills with the ability to write correspondence.
  • Ability to read, write and understand written and verbal instructions.
  • Capable of accurately charting inspection and test data.
  • Physical ability to repetitively lift, stand, climb, and bend etc., within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of using small hand measuring tools, test lights, capable of working under a microscope.
  • Familiar with J-STD-001, ISO9001, AS9100, or ISO13485 processes preferred.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.

Additional Knowledge and Related Experience Req

  • 3-year quality inspection experience in high technology companies.
