This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Construction Inspector for our San Jose, California office. The following locations will also be considered: San Francisco, Oakland and Santa Cruz. Be involved in projects with our PMCM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. WSP has offices in Antioch, Walnut Creek, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Sacramento, Roseville, and Stockton.

Your Impact

  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications

  • Monitor construction for compliance with project documents

  • Measure, calculate, and document quantities of installed materials in accordance with client policies and procedures

  • Inspect road and bridge construction (based on Cms, including lane closures, in accordance with Caltrans’ standards and requirements

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of education equivalent to completion of a curriculum beyond the 12th grade in either (1) engineering which includes courses in trigonometry and algebra or higher, drafting, computer science, and physics, chemistry, or a comparable physical science; or (2) surveying which includes courses in trigonometry and algebra or higher, drafting, surveying, and computer science.

  • Five (5) years of inspection experience in highway/bridge/public works industry OR 5 years of experience in the highway/public works sector working for a contractor or public agency OR Civil Engineering Degree accredited by ABET and 2 years of experience in the highway/bridge /public works industry (any type of position).

  • Knowledge of Caltrans Standard Plans, Standard Specifications, and Construction Manual.

  • Ability to travel to construction sites (local)

  • Valid California Driver’s License

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Caltrans procedures is desirable

  • Knowledge and experience with Design Build Delivery Method

  • Knowledge and experience with Construction Oversight

Compensation and Benefits:

WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.

Expected Salary: $51,000 - $92,000, depending on experience level, location and other qualifications. Employee's hourly rate may increase if/when they perform services that are covered by California's Prevailing Wage laws on public sector projects, or are covred by other applicable wage and hour laws.
