The Sr. Staff Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for developing innovative designs solutions using Design for Manufacturing (DFM-DFX) principals for production machines. Familiarity with various manufacturing methods such as machining, sheet metal, and injection molding. Will collaborate with stakeholders, suppliers and internal staff to ensure all designs are tested and validated per project requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop concept, design and documentation of a variety of assemblies and components following departmental disciplines related to design management

  • Apply Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM) principals to meet project requirements

  • Conduct Design Review Meetings

  • Work closely with Engineering team to design new tooling, jigs, fixtures and products

  • Design parametric models as needed

  • Work with cross functional teams to define project requirements and specifications

  • Support departmental projects as they are assigned

  • Provide tools, solutions and techniques for fast and reliable product design development

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial engineering, or equivalent

  • 10+ years’ experience using a 3D CAD software such as: Solidworks, Unigraphics, Creo/ProE, and/or CATIA solid modeling programs.

  • 5+ years of experience in product development environment

  • Ability to work independently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience using additive manufacturing technologies, such as: DLP, FDM, DMLS, LS, etc…

  • Experience with Solidworks

  • Experience with DFX

  • Ability to convey and transfer knowhow

  • Open and flexible. Able to change strategy when required

  • Strong communication skills, and customer facing experience

  • Experience with testing Polymer VAT 3D printers and Resins (materials)

  • Experience with quality industry statistics and computations (i.e. Confidence Intervals/Levels, hypothesis testing, etc)

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Experience with industrial 3D printing product development

  • Experience with Reliability Testing
