Amazon Sr. Embedded Software Engineer, eero in San Francisco, California

Description

eero (an Amazon company) is seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Software Development Engineer for its Wifi Access Point products. In this role, you will design and implement innovative wifi and networking features to delight our residential and business customers. You will work in cooperation with the Product team and other engineering groups to deliver features end-to-end. Ideally, you are an experienced and versatile in wireless and embedded networking, eager and capable of learning and innovating.

Key job responsibilities

  • Enhance the mesh experiences for eero's whole home connectivity products

  • Analyze connectivity problems and come out with complete solutions

  • Dive deep into embedded system internals

  • Improve wireless drivers, firmware, hostap components

  • Work with core operating system, mobile and cloud teams to deliver features

  • Lead in architecting features and tackling intricate debugging across various teams.

  • Hands-on involvement in the entire WiFi stack, showcasing technical expertise and problem-solving skills

  • Collaborate with internal hardware and testing teams to develop and refine WiFi systems.

  • Interface with external vendors to address challenges and ensure integration of their solutions

  • Coordinate with global teams, adapting to different time zones and cultures to maintain project alignment

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers

A day in the life

As a Software Development Engineer at eero, your day is a blend of technical depth and collaborative dynamics. It begins with hands-on development of Wifi and networking features, followed by proactive debugging of complex system issues. You'll spend significant time collaborating with internal hardware, software, cloud, product and testing teams, acting as a bridge to ensure seamless integration of our products. Regular interactions with external vendors are also key, as you work to address technical issues and integrate their solutions. Your day may conclude with collaborations with international teams.

WiFi team provides the most secure, fast, reliable and complete WiFi router system to our customers. We innovate on behalf of our customers. The team members work closely to provide best customer experience. We own design to development to quality assurance with dedicated labs.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

  • 7+ years of programming with C and Python or Golang

  • 5+ years of experience working with networking protocols from layer 2,3 and 4

  • Hands-on experience with networking hardware, such as access points, routers, and switches.

  • Extensive experience in WiFi software development, with a focus on 802.11 protocols.

  • Thorough knowledge of network protocols and standards, including 802.11, DHCP, IPv4, IPv6, as well as familiarity with Linux bridge and network stack internals.

  • Solid background in embedded systems or consumer electronics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
