Stratasys Site Reliability Engineer in San Francisco, California

Site Reliability Engineer

Country/Region: US

State: CA

City: San Francisco

Job ID: 37624

Category: Software

There’s a reason Stratasys is a world leader.

LOCATION: San Francisco, CA

Stratasys is a world leader in 3D printing, and recently added the Origin line of DLP printers to their product offering. The Origin One printer was designed from the ground up with high volume production manufacturing in mind. These are not desktop 3D printers for hobbyists, but commercial-grade 3D printers being used by manufacturers to create end-use parts. Building 3D printers for manufacturing requires much higher quality, reliability, repeatability, and uptime than printers designed for one-shot prototypes. Our printers are all IoT devices which print only while connected to our hosted Kubernetes clusters. This allows customers to manage and monitor their manufacturing activities and enables our best-in-class Customer Support. As manufacturing facilities come to rely on 3D printers, we have to keep our system up or else their production lines will halt.

We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to maintain uptime as we scale production of our additive manufacturing platform. As reliability becomes a higher priority for our customers, we need to organize on-call rotations and ensure quick response times to incidents, integrating with systems such as PagerDuty and automating alerts based on our log aggregator and Google Cloud Platform metrics APIs. In this role, you will use software as a tool to look forward and head-off infrastructure issues which could pose the risk of an outage.

  • Set up monitoring, alerting, and incident management processes

  • Set up and manage on-call rotations

  • Proactively plan improvements to ensure uptime and cloud performance

  • Maintain and expand cloud-based infrastructure for the Origin IOT cloud

  • Maintain a healthy, productive engineering culture: champion high standards of code quality and participate in recruitment to build a world class software engineering team

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relative work experiences in lieu of degree

  • 4 years experience in DevOps roles

  • 1+ years experience as an SRE

  • Experience setting up and managing on-call rotations

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform

  • Experience with Kubernetes

  • Experience with Wireguard

  • Passion to do whatever it takes to independently solve complex problems

  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills
