Our Developer Platform supports this mission by providing an engagement layer connecting people and information across different software. A typical enterprise has over one thousand pieces of software, creating silos of data and events!

Our goal is to empower everyone to automate administrative tasks and exchange data between silos to reduce context switching, increase productivity, and improve their working life. The platform ecosystem supports our mission by meeting our customers where they are: interoperability with their tools in Slack.

We’re looking for an experienced product manager with a background in app/developer platforms, third-party ecosystems, or marketplaces to define and drive the Slack Platform’s ecosystem strategy.

This roadmap includes our third-party app distribution (App Directory), identity-based experiences (Sign in with Slack), and integrations that make it easy to bring data into Slack. In this role, you’ll work alongside Developer Relations, Business Development, Product Marketing, Design, and Engineering to execute the ecosystem vision.

What you will be doing

  • Work with your product, design, and engineering peers to create a vision to drive 10x platform activity through a partner ecosystem strategy

  • Own and manage the roadmap to deliver on the needs of people who build Slack apps across a range of technical levels and capabilities; always prioritizing business opportunities from multiple inputs to maximize ROI

  • Create new APIs to allow easier creation of new Slack app capabilities. Launching new services to support Slack developers and reduce friction for Slack development.

  • Work cross functionally with Business Development and Product Marketing to support product efforts

  • Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to build an understanding of Slack app developers necessary for a healthy ecosystem

  • Understand our business strategy, identify business problems and opportunities that can change the trajectory of the business

What you should have

  • 5+ years of experience as a product manager working on partnerships, developer platforms or low-code platforms, or marketplaces with external stakeholders; go-to-market and monetization interest or experience is optional but a plus.

  • Track record of managing complex internal and external stakeholders to craft creative, “win win” solutions

  • Strong understanding of software engineering; ability to ask questions to understand how technical decisions impact your team and API users

  • Big picture thinking with a growth mindset and ability to lead a team through ambiguity; you are a strategic thinker that understands the competitive landscape and can balance multiple stakeholder needs

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills; you can inspire, influence, and rally cross-functional partners

  • Comfortable making decisions without consensus; you help others understand the “why” and bring them along.

  • Data-informed decision maker; strong analytical skills paired with a commercial mindset

  • Strong product sense and desire to understand Slack developers and users of varying skill levels and technical capabilities - their abilities, needs, and how they work
