Lyft Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting in San Francisco, California

The Lyft Accounting team is seeking a proactive and highly motivated Senior Revenue Accounting Manager. In this critical and highly visible role, you will oversee essential accounting processes related to Revenue and ensure the delivery of accurate financial results in a high-growth, fast-paced environment. As part of a dynamic and collaborative accounting organization, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the Revenue accounting function, driving process improvements, and scaling the revenue accounting close process. Additionally, you will provide leadership, develop your direct reports, and regularly collaborate cross-functionally with other teams at Lyft.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the critical and highly visible accounting processes around Revenue and deliver accurate financial results in a high-growth, fast-paced environment

  • Join a dynamic and highly collaborative accounting organization and play a critical role in overseeing the Revenue accounting function, strategizing and implementing process improvements, and scaling the revenue accounting close process

  • Provide leadership to a team through strategic planning and develop direct reports

  • Regularly work cross functionally with other teams, such as Financial Systems, FP&A, Financial reporting, Technical Accounting, Data team, and Accounts Receivables to ensure timely and accurate reporting

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual revenue accounting close process, and manage day-to-day revenue accounting operations

  • Ensure compliance with revenue accounting policies, procedures and SOX controls through detailed review of journal entries, account reconciliations, key controls and flux analysis

  • Play a key role in our quarterly and annual review and audit process, including managing key deliverables to internal and external auditors

  • Research on unusual/complex revenue transactions for appropriate revenue accounting treatment and document key revenue conclusions in a memo in compliance with ASC 606

  • Assess potential business changes for impact and compliance objectives for SOX related to your areas of responsibility

  • Responsible for identifying and implementing process and system improvements with the goal of decreasing days to close, while also improving team efficiency and scalability

  • Assess new product offerings for technical revenue considerations and work cross-functionally to operationalize within accounting processes

  • Lead/support ad hoc projects

Experience:

  • BS in Accounting/Finance, CPA license preferred

  • 10+ years in Accounting, including Big 4 experience

  • Experience managing teams, setting goals and strategies, developing team roadmaps, and mentoring direct reports

  • Experience with SOX, internal controls, and working in a public market company environment preferred

  • Experience working with engineering, data, and other technical teams preferred

  • Experience working with large data sets with SQL and Mode Reporting preferred

  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Strong accounting research and problem-solving skills with a focus on revenue recognition

  • Extensive knowledge of ASC 606 revenue accounting guidance

  • Highly detail-oriented and able to multitask

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills – must have significant experience in Microsoft and Google applications; Oracle is strongly preferred

  • Able to operate independently and as part of a larger functional team

  • Ability to build cross-functional relationships, deadline driven, and take initiative to drive results

  • Ability to lead a team in a dynamic environment, managing multiple and changing priorities with ability to understand issues, demonstrate resourcefulness and proactively resolve problems while consistently meeting deadlines

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $152,000-$210,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
