The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.
This role can be based in any of our U.S. office locations (including San Francisco/Bay Area, New York, Chicago, Omaha, or Washington DC).
In this role, you will provide legal support to LinkedIn Product and Engineering AI teams to ensure that LinkedIn can continue to, lawfully and, in a members-first manner, develop cutting edge AI technology in a compliant manner. You will work in a fast-paced, diverse, collaborative, and motivated legal department that values humor and teamwork. You will partner with stakeholders across the company to provide guidance and drive smart, legally compliant, and “members first” solutions.
Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively within and outside of the legal department to help ensure that LinkedIn products and processes are compliant with applicable laws and regulations relating to consumer protection, security, and privacy.
Advise on AI development and deployment-related compliance matters.
Assist in building and sustaining a best-in-class AI governance program.
Provide legal counsel on relevant consumer product and feature developments.
Document counseling and help organize and drive legal processes.
Stay current on policy issues and legal developments relating to social media platforms.
Advise teams on legal issues related to data management and use.
Draft clear, consistent disclosures and terms to enable our members and customers to make informed choices about their data and use of LinkedIn’s products.
Collaborate and build relationships with industry peers.
Attend ongoing industry working groups and training on relevant subject areas.
Play an active role in fulfilling LinkedIn's mission of connecting the world's professionals to make them more productive and successful by being an integral member of our fast-paced, well-rounded, collaborative, and FUN Legal & Public Policy team.
Basic Qualifications:
4+ years' related legal experience, with a focus on product counseling, privacy/data protection counseling, and/or IP-related counseling.
J.D. and admission to the bar or the ability to practice in-house in your office location.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in advising clients on topics relating to AI, privacy, and consumer law.
Experience in solving data-related legal matters, including communicating and collaborating effectively with engineering teams on data flows and similar technical matters.
Experience working at a technology company (including prior experience in non-legal roles such as engineering, product management, marketing, or sales).
Experience providing counsel on, or demonstrated understanding of, the issues faced by social media companies.
Experience providing counsel on, or demonstrated understanding of, the issues faced by AI developers/providers and AI deployers.
CIPP/US and E certification.
You are a self-motivated team player with the ability to learn quickly, identify and resolve legal and business issues, drive projects and earn both the confidence and cooperation of your business partners.
You have high standards, strong communication skills, impeccable integrity, unquestionably good judgment, strong analytical skills, intense compassion for others, and a keen sense of humor.
You can work independently, but also like to be part of a diverse team.
You are effective in a fast-paced environment where you will be expected to give quick, clear, and concise legal advice.
You like to work with business partners and enable business goals, and you are interested in online services and media.
When you see an issue that needs addressing, your instinct is to jump in and address it, but you are also comfortable relying on the expertise and assistance of others when necessary.

The pay range for this role is $149,000 - $242,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
