Splunk Principal Technical Program Manager of Engineering Learning & Development in San Francisco, California

The Engineering Productivity team (Eng Prod) identifies waste in the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). We build tools, documentation, community and processes to improve code quality, remove friction and reduce cycle time via a data driven approach. We also provide training to help new employees be productive on week 1, and to help existing team members continue to sharpen their skills.

We are seeking a Principal Program Manager of Engineering Learning & Development to recreate and operationalize our engineering training and onboarding program for over 2,000 product engineers worldwide. In this role, you will contribute to make all new hires feel welcome and engaged in the program engineering organization!

You will be part of the Eng Prod team which includes technical writers, a full stack engineering tools team, and internal product management. As a central team, we are the force multiplier to build a systematic introduction to Splunk’s technology, products and organization before a new hire arrives in their team.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Own and drive our new hire bootcamp, engineering training programs, weekly technical talk series, and ongoing engineering training.

  • Engage with the entire Products and Technology organization to contribute content, speakers and workshops to the new hire bootcamp program, and to create and deliver role specific training for over 2,000 engineers.

  • Build a data-centric approach to operationalize the bootcamp program to collect metrics, NPS scores, detail feedback and drive continuous improvement.

  • Drive outcomes for new hires to gain foundational knowledge, so they can be productive from day 1 when they join their receiving engineering teams.

  • Design high-­quality instructional materials and curricula for eLearning and instructor-­led blended courses targeting Splunk’s internal technical audience.

  • Lead a cross functional steering committee to guide and invest in our new hire bootcamp and onboarding programs. Be the voice of engineering to our leadership teams to drive continued investment.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with other organizational learning co-workers to share content, resources and programs.

  • Foster a culture of learning that promotes inclusion and diversity in our teams, interactions, and learning models

Who You Are & What Makes You Qualified:

  • Deep experience in engineering onboarding and bootcamp programs.

  • Strong validated experience communicating directly with leadership, proactive problem solving, and critical thinking.

  • Validated history influencing and affecting change at all levels of the organization without having positional authority.

  • Strong customer focus, and ensures timely, clear handling of feedback loop on both internal & external customer issues.

  • Proven track record of being resourceful, self-motivated, and ability to independently prioritize, shifting workload in a high-growth, constantly evolving environment.

  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or equivalent experience.
