Auris Health, Inc., part of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies, is redefining medical interventions. By combining advancements in medical robotics, instrumentation, navigation, and data science, we are building intelligence platforms capable of growing the applicability of robotics to a new spectrum of medical procedures. We are seeking an innovator in the data analytics space for a Principal Data Scientist position within the Algorithms & AI team. You will work closely with other Research Scientists, Data Scientists, Algorithms Engineers, Data and Software Engineers to scale the impact of data-driven decisions in medical robotics R&D. This is an excellent opportunity to positively impact the treatment outcomes through creative thinking, tackle unique and complicated problems and directly shape the innovation roadmap for robotic platforms!

Core Job Responsibilities

• Lead the Product Intelligence efforts from data exploration, feature engineering, and root cause analysis to the empowerment of the stakeholders with data-driven decisions.

• Lead development and execution of novel statistical techniques and predictive models to evaluate the performance of robotic procedures and inform additional data-driven design efforts across the organization.

• Set the bar in statistical rigor for large amounts of data analysis, using applied mathematics and statistical techniques.

• Partner with a cross-functional team of researchers, system engineers, roboticists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver product solutions.

• Lead and maintain organizational practices in version control, software development, and configuration management.

• Promote Auris Algorithms & AI group via presentation(s) at significant annual industry and research conferences.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications & Skills

• PhD in Statistics or PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering with specialization in Data Science.

• 5+ years of industry experience in data analytics with at least 2 years of leadership experience.

• History of coming up with innovative and creative quantitative solutions and data-driven product changes proven through practical business impact and/or publications.

• Superior communication skills, with the ability to synthesize, compile compelling narratives, simplify and explain sophisticated problems to a diverse audience, including executives.

• Technical breadth and proficiency from hands-on work on end-to-end data science and machine learning solutions.

• Expert skills in Python/R/Matlab, Tensorflow, and SQL.

  Desired Qualifications

• Experience with the healthcare domain and/or medical robotic systems.

  Preferred location

Redwood City, CA with the possibility for remote.
