Meta Environmental Analyst in San Francisco, California

Summary:

Meta designs, builds, leases, and operates the most innovative and efficient data centers in the world and is responsible for deploying and supporting one of the world’s largest and complex terrestrial and subsea networks. Developing, operating, and managing infrastructure and facilities the "right" way is synonymous with ensuring high uptime, capacity availability, flexibility, and cost efficiency while maintaining a safe working environment. Meta is seeking an Environmental Analyst to support environmental monitoring and analytics critical to regulatory compliance of our international data center and network builds. This position will work on cross-functional program efforts for the large and growing global infrastructure portfolio during pre-development, construction, and operations phases. This position will work closely with both the data center and network environmental teams, and report directly to the Global Manager of the Environment & Water team within the Site Development organization. Some travel is needed to visit our sites, when possible, to better understand operations and meet project teams.

Required Skills:

Environmental Analyst Responsibilities:

  1. Support compliance with environmental regulations and permits during infrastructure projects (recordkeeping and reporting).

  2. Conceptualize and own the data architecture on behalf of the environment team in collaboration with data science and engineering teams.

  3. Develop and apply data foundation to support various environmental analytics workstreams to inform Meta’s reporting across multiple environmental disciplines, including air emissions, noise impacts, biological and cultural resources, and soil/groundwater cleanup.

  4. Develop and maintain tools to integrate compliance and reporting across the build life-cycle, including mechanisms to monitor and report relevant environmental incidents (spills, releases, violations, complaints) for internal and external reporting requirements and adherence to environmental contracts.

  5. Develop metrics and tools to establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and objectives & key results (OKRs) for environmental teams.

  6. Complete thorough and accurate environmental data audits to identify areas for continuous improvements.

  7. Organize, review and evaluate environmental monitoring data (e.g., air emissions, inspections).

  8. Oversee data management, document control, and recordkeeping for data center and network environmental teams.

  9. Lead data collection and analysis for the data center and network environmental programs required for reporting (Sustainability Reporting, Annual Environmental Reports).

  10. Support process development for generator automation programs.

  11. Develop training and educational tools regarding compliance and awareness for diverse Meta teams.

  12. Monitor state and local policies that could affect the environment.

  13. Conduct research related to regulations or initiatives affecting environmental management.

  14. Support team on accounting and billing (Purchase Orders, invoicing).

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or related field

  2. 3+ years professional experience working on environmental programs

  3. Technical expertise related to environmental management

  4. Proven communication, organizational and program management skills, with the experience to manage multiple projects and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders

  5. Experience collaborating with data engineers and data scientists, building productive cross-functional and working relationships

  6. Experience to communicate and work with highly confidential information

  7. Database management skills using SQL and/or experience manipulating data using programing language such as Python

  8. Experience using large data sets to build data models

  9. Proficient knowledge with statistical analysis, quantitative analytics to apply methodologies to analyze environmental risks and opportunities

  10. Experience to design, implement, and maintain dashboard in Tableau or comparable program (PowerBI, ESRI)

Public Compensation:

$47.12/hour to $148,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
