The Discovery AKTA Field Application Specialist for Cytiva is responsible for providing product & application support, and driving sales for lab AKTA instruments and lab resin.

This position is part of the Discovery Commercial organization and will be fully remote requiring travel to customer sites and business meetings. At Cytiva, our vision is, to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Primary focus on lab scale AKTA and lab chromatography resins, both products and related applications, within their sales territory/region by supporting the Account Managers and Sales Specialists with high level technical expertise during pre-sales discussions, instrument demonstrations, customer training, post-sales support, seminars, and promotional events, as well as independently identifying opportunities

  • Support customer purification and manufacturing projects to drive/facilitate early design-in of Cytiva resins by providing Cytiva product and application information, answering inquiries, giving presentation, assisting with logistics, and providing limited bench work.

  • Accountable for regional revenue targets and overall business performance objectives. Responsible for contributing information (market, customer, and product knowledge) to sales strategies and account plans, as part of the core account team.

  • Relationships - Build strong relationships and maintain good communication with customers to gather information on the customers' needs and relay that information to the account team to identify present and future customer needs, where applicable. Improve customer satisfaction and retention through trouble shooting and continuing education on optimization of customer applications and processes.

  • Provide competitive product insight and provide regular feedback on customer satisfaction and needs to internal stakeholders.

    The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Must have at least 3 years of post-bachelor working experience in a Biotech, Pharma, or Academic lab with hands-on experience in protein purification using lab scale AKTA instruments, UNICORN software, and chromatographic resins.

  • BS Degree in Life Science (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry) or Engineering. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Willingness to travel overnight up to 50% of the time within specified geographic region as well as to nationwide sales meetings and tradeshows.

  • Team player with a customer mindset and an ability to work effectively cross-functionally for success

  • Solid problem-solving & polished presentations skills – ability to resolve complex problems, communicate issues and propose solutions to both external customers and internal team members. Know how to read an audience during a presentation, and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Lab scale column packing

  • Training

  • Downstream Process Development

The base salary range for this role is $95,000 to $120,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for sales incentive pay.
