Description

Robert Half is currently working with a client seeking a Director of Finance in San Francisco. The Director of Finance will plan and direct the activities of the finance department and work with the owners and the management team to ensure the financial success of the hotel. Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Manages the accounting team who are responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation.

• Recruits and hires accounting and financial staff and conducts performance evaluations.

• Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assists the Managing Director in achieving established business goals for the hotel.

• Be the lead spokesperson for financials in ownership meetings and be able to talk in detail regarding any inquiry ownership may have.

• Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.

• Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.

• Oversees the production of monthly financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and the company’s financial reporting standards.

• Responsible for monthly balance sheet reconciliations

• Responsible for filing of ; sales, use, and occupancy tax returns;.

• Audit accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for periodic external audits.

• Provides financial analysis as requested by the Managing Director or Ownership team

• Presents recommendations to the Managing Director and department heads on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.

• Continually looks for opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department and hotel through the leveraging of technology.

• Coach department heads and managers regarding their financial responsibilities as well as financial management best practices in order to be successful in their roles.

• Ensure successful treasury cash management in compliance with the company’s policy.

• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

• Continuously monitor economic, social, and governmental trends, policies and ordinances to ensure that ownership is kept fully apprised of any implications that may affect the performance of the hotel in meeting its financial objectives.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent management and leadership skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Proficient in accounting software.

• Birchstreet, Unifocus, UKG, Opera, InfoGenesis POS software experience a plus.

Education and Experience:

• Five years or more of related experience required.

• Two plus years Director of Finance level hotel experience preferred.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
