Facebook Communications Manager, Writer in San Francisco, California

We’re looking for a Communications Manager to help Facebook leaders communicate about our products, practices and impact. In this role, you’ll shape how we talk about the changes we’re making, grapple with our biggest challenges, and make the case for the good technology does in the world. You’ll be part of a small team of writers advocating for clarity at every step.

We're looking for someone who can work collaboratively, deliver high-quality work on tight deadlines, and adapt to changing demands and wide-ranging input. You should be able to learn quickly and write about everything from News Feed and Instagram Stories, to our corporate policies and tools for small businesses, to end-to-end encryption and AI innovation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong speechwriting background, with excellent judgment and a track record of working with leaders in the public or private sector. We want someone who can come up with thought-provoking ideas, turn beautiful copy under deadline, and challenge us to be better. You should be passionate about the services we provide and the people we serve.

Required Skills:

  1. Draft and edit speeches, op-eds, blog posts and statements on behalf of the company and executives

  2. Create compelling narratives about Facebook’s people, products and role in the world

  3. Build strong relationships and offer tactical and strategic communications advice to leaders and their teams

  4. Research and write on extremely tight deadlines

  5. Manage multiple projects at once

  6. Work closely with various teams and leaders across the company

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English or relevant field

  2. 5+ years of experience writing for senior leaders in business, government or nonprofits

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Abiding love for the written and spoken word
