Google Business Affairs Manager, Consumer, Apps, Marketing in San Francisco, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 4 years of experience in business affairs.

  • Experience working cross-functionally with various stakeholders and teams.

  • Experience with copyright, trademark, and licensing or advertising law with a particular emphasis on social, digital content, and technology initiatives.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of current Screen Actors Guild (SAG)/American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) and American Federation of Musicians (AFM) union guidelines.

  • Ability to build relationships with various teams across legal, marketing, and agencies.

  • Ability to organize, take initiative and anticipate needs and create efficient and effective processes in addition to react effectively and professionally to situations that require quick response or turnaround.

  • Excellent negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.

As a Business Affairs Manager, you will be responsible for managing a range of work including providing guidance on advertising regulations, third-party licensing rights, and rights management and identifying solutions to high-risk production scenarios and business challenges. You will also help execute marketing agreements, such as sponsorships, content or music licenses, celebrity deals and co-marketing agreements. You will work with marketers, legal counsel, relevant cross-functional teams, and external agencies/partners to ensure all rights are secured properly and all deliverables are legally sound while upholding Google’s brand standards.You will also improve processes, develop efficiencies and maintain the skills required to talk through legal issues and contractual obligations.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $114,000-$167,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Manage and review all Consumer Apps marketing deliverables and team up with cross-functional partners to review and provide business affairs guidance on campaigns from ideation to final delivery. Advise on potential production, legal, financial or brand compliance issues and collaborate with marketers on creative solutions.

  • Manage negotiations and contracts. Strategize with cross-functional leads to lead contractual negotiations involving brand partnerships, celebrity endorsements, music and third-party rights for global campaigns and events.

  • Manage relationships with marketers, cross-functional teams, external agencies and partners. Partner with cross-functional leadership to develop and evolve effective business processes both internally and externally.

  • Manage risk conversations and initiate, escalate high-level risk legal/regulatory discussions with key stakeholders and bring practical business suggestions/solutions to reduce risk and maximize marketing value.
