Description:

The Animal Technician is responsible for the daily care of animals in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Gather dirty cages from various areas of the facility Operation of cage wash, compost trash, prepping cage wash for use, operating cage was dirty/clean side, cleaning of cage wash area, Moving/storing equipment, Assist with cage change outs & room checks as needed, Grounds keeping, Sweeping and moping and removing trash/biohazardous waste from hallways, common areas, Daily maintenance of footbaths/mats, Removing recycled and compostable items and staging for pickup, Laundering of facility scrubs/uniforms, and Various duties as assigned.

Must have their own transportation and parking is free.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Graduation from high school and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

Ability to effectively and efficiently work well with other team-members in a high-throughput, dynamic, and physically-demanding environment.

Ability to effectively follow Standard Operating Procedures as it relates to Environmental Health and Safety procedures (i.e. proper use of Personal Protective Equipment)

Gather dirty cages from various areas of the facility. Operation of cage wash. Moving/storing equipment. Assist with cage change outs & room checks as needed. Sweeping and moping and removing trash/biohazardous waste from hallways, common areas. Daily maintenance of footbaths/mats. Removing recycled and compostable items and staging for pickup. Laundering of facility scrubs/uniforms.

Familiarity with biomedical research and animal models of disease is preferred

Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification is preferred

California Driving License & reliable form of transportation is required
