ADP Sr. Director Business Development, Tax (Smart Compliance) in San Dimas, California

ADP is hiring a Sr. Director of Business Development within our Smart Compliance Solutions organization.

In this role as Senior Director , you will play a pivotal role in shaping an organization’s long-term vision and growth trajectory. This strategic planning leader collaborates with executive teams, analyzes market dynamics, and identifies opportunities for expansion. They develop and execute strategies to capitalize on these opportunities, ensuring the company’s sustained success.

Your role is a critical one designed to identify, prioritize, and drive the execution of ADP's Tax strategy. The leader needs to have a strong strategic background and history of growth through Mergers and Acquisitions. Having experience as a People Leader is important as you would be leading a team of 5-6 leaders supporting their day-to-day. In this role, you will have to be able to look across the Tax portfolio, payroll portfolio and the Human Capital Market industry to identify the tax strategic initiatives that will yield the greatest market share for ADP and align to the overall ADP strategy. You will be responsible for prioritizing our strategic initiatives, through befit realization and return on investment, and aligning them with our current capabilities. This role will evaluate if a build, buy (Mergers and Acquisitions) or partner approach is best for the strategic initiative.

This Sr. Director needs to have an understanding and discipline for working effectively and efficiently in exceptionally large highly matrixed organizations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO: Responsibilities

What you can expect on a typical day:

  • Strategic Vision and Planning:

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic plans aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define long-term objectives and growth strategies.

  • Monitor industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities.

  • Financial Analysis and Profitability:

  • Drive initiatives that enhance profitability and sustainable growth.

  • Evaluate financial metrics, assess risks, and recommend adjustments to strategic plans.

  • Analyze data-driven methodologies to optimize business performance.

  • Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Negotiate and manage strategic partnerships with external organizations, vendors, and stakeholders.

  • Advise senior management and on strategic decisions, presenting findings persuasively.

  • Business Development and Expansion:

  • Identify new markets, product lines, or services for expansion.

  • Assess feasibility, conduct due diligence, and recommend strategic moves.

  • Oversee mergers, acquisitions, and other growth-related activities.

  • Communication and Reporting:

  • Develop reporting tools to communicate strategic plans and concepts to leadership.

  • Conduct periodic status reviews of organizational goals and objectives.

  • Present strategic insights to executive teams and board members.

  • Relationship Building:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry analysts and the investment community.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to align strategic initiatives.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE: Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in strategic planning, business development, or related roles.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of strategic frameworks, financial analysis, and industry trends.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to influence and drive consensus across diverse teams.

  • 8+ years of experience working in a client service/business consultant environment with systems experience.

  • 5+ years of people leadership experience

  • Strong understanding of Implementation process/financials/impact

  • Champion of change/experience with change management

  • Experience in driving process improvement initiatives

  • Requires high collaboration and performance transparency with field implementation leadership

  • Highly connected to development efforts, pilots/feedback, and deployment of new/enhanced toolsets

  • Relationship building across the business is critical – implementation senior team, development partners, implementation operations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Effective analytical skills

A college degree is great but not required. What's more important is having the skills to do the job. Other acceptable experiences could include:

  • Experience noted above, OR

  • Military experience where skills including teamwork, adaptability, organization, and follow-through will help you build team and client relationships, identify solutions, and achieve success.

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred

  • Matrix leadership domestically and offshore locations

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks/projects while meeting tight deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and teamwork skills

  • A solid command of business communication tools and strategies.

  • Proficient in the latest web technologies and working knowledge of various operating systems

  • Proficiency and in-depth knowledge of all pertinent ADP HR, Payroll and Benefits policies and procedures

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity or commissions. The compensation for this role is $122,400.00 - $328,140.00 / Year
