Job Description:

Summary

The Staff Reliability Engineer is responsible for providing Reliability Engineering support to new product development programs, sustaining engineering programs, failure investigations, and the analysis of field reliability data through the application of Reliability engineering and other engineering skills for medical devices. This person handles projects and tasks, from product inception through product launch and maintenance and play an active role in the processes to ensure products meet quality standards consistent with both Corporate and unit policies, while meeting all design control and other regulatory requirements.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop and execute Reliability Plans for new product development projects. This includes establishing the reliability plan deliverables and overseeing execution of plan deliverables. Reliability plan deliverables may include establishing reliability metrics/targets, performing FMEAs and/or Fault Trees, and creating reliability test plan strategies including reliability demonstration tests and reliability growth tests.

  • Participate in the planning and execution of technical project work. This will involve the application of engineering first principles and advanced engineering methods to gain deep understanding of the underlying technical issues, and to propose and implement robust solutions.

  • Collaborate with Design & Development, Systems Engineering and Verification Engineering teams to ensure that product requirements are testable and measurable.

  • Create and document novel test methodologies and provide feedback and recommendations for product/design changes.

  • Provide reliability analysis for fielded products. This includes Weibull analysis and non-parametric methods to understand time to failure

  • Provide technical expertise to failure investigations.

  • Develop and manage the execution of reliability test plans to assess system or subsystem reliability.

  • Provide critical review of reliability deliverables including HALT/HASS, reliability allocation, accelerated life test, reliability growth.

  • Perform as a Reliability subject matter expert in project team in the areas of new product development, failure investigation of field issues, CAPA remediation activities, etc.

  • Operate as a Reliability technical leader including providing instruction and mentorship within core team and champion reliability best practices to cross functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Mechanical, Electrical or Reliability preferred.

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience or a combination of equivalent education and relevant experience.

  • Expertise with FMEAs, Fault Trees, Analysis of Reliability Test data, Reliability Test Planning

  • Mathematic and statistical proficiency

  • Ability to effectively and clearly communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge to other individuals and teams.

  • Strong understanding of product development process and reliability deliverables through project phases

  • Experience in working and leading teams/individuals to develop technical solutions to complex problems.

Preferred

  • Proficient with Reliasoft, JMP, and/or Minitab for Failure Data Analysis and System Modeling

  • Predict component reliability using simulation tools as Sherlock, Ansys and LS-Dyna

  • Designing processes and developing scripts (using R, Python, VBA, etc.) to perform and automate data analysis of large and complex datasets (e.g. data wrangling, text mining, statistical modeling, etc.). Computing, modeling, and simulation skills using R, SAS, SPSS, JMP.

  • Agile, Lean Six Sigma, Design for Six Sigma Product Development experience

  • Medical Device experience and familiarity with FDA processes and standards, and design control process

There are many factors, such as location, that contribute to the range displayed. The salary offered to a successful candidate is based on experience, education, skills, and actual work location. Salary ranges may vary for Field-based and Remote roles.

Salary Range Information

$121,100.00 - $199,800.00
