Leidos Signal Process Engineer in San Diego, California
Description
We are looking for an experienced Signal Process Engineer to contribute to our team, focusing on advancing our understanding of complex cyber-physical systems for critical national security applications. In this role, you will leverage expertise in data analytics, including Machine Learning, Predictive Modeling, Statistical Analysis, and Hypothesis Testing, to develop comprehensive research narratives. You will collaborate closely with large, multi-disciplinary teams, guiding and evaluating cutting-edge R&D efforts.
Your primary responsibilities will focus on engineering optimized real-time analysis algorithms, maturing them into automated analysis pipelines and adapting prior solutions to novel problems. You will play a vital role in interpreting findings and delivering actionable recommendations to enhance program outcomes. Additionally, you will develop and deploy innovative information tools, algorithms, and dashboards to monitor and optimize project performance.
As a key influencer in project design and execution, you verify that progress aligns with strategic objectives. This position requires a strong educational background with a BS degree and 8-12 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6-10 years, ideally complemented by a Doctorate in a technical field. Primary Responsibilities:
Guide Research: Identify knowledge gaps and develop plans of action to close them. Resourcefully work to find or create the tools needed to answer research questions.
Design of Experiments: Engineer sampling and analysis methods for complex systems to discover how system performance depends on complex interacting environmental factors.
Science Communication: Develop knowledge management products to visualize and quantify relevant information for decision makers, engineers and customers.
General Communication: Clearly document technical processes and requirements. Synthesize perspectives from different stakeholders into coherent and actionable narratives.
Data Analysis: Develop or utilize programmatic and quantitative methods to find patterns, trends, and relationships in data to meaningful insights and inform experimentation campaigns and capability development planning
Manage Big Data: Work with the customer and engineers to develop a knowledge management strategy.
Leadership: Be forward leaning, exploring solutions that benefit individual experiment campaigns and the program as a whole. Independently identify opportunities for mitigating programmatic risk and improving performance.
Basic Qualifications
Education: B.S. Degree in a quantitative or analytical field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, or Computational Social Science; combined with 8+ years of experience; or Master's Degree with 6+ years of experience; or equivalent Graduate Degree including certificate-based advanced training courses
Work Experience: 8+ years of experience in data science, analytics or quantitative intelligence analysis, and demonstrating progressive technical development and outcomes
Programing: Significant experience in one or more scripting languages, ideally MATLAB. Experience with Python, R and C++ is valued.
Modeling and Simulation: Experience with modeling, particularly Simulink for multi-physics and multi-scale modeling.
Big Data: Proficient in one or more big data programming languages, such as Java or Python
Collaboration: Experience working with a hybrid team of analysts, engineers, and developers to plan, conduct, and analyze research and experiments
Demonstrated Success: Track record of active learning and creative problem solving in prior work
Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated data analytics experience in direct support of military or intelligence community customers, demonstrating progressive technical development and mission-focused outcomes
Current Secret or higher security clearance
Experience blending analytical methodologies and leveraging existing COTS/GOTS/OS tools in unconventional manners
Experience with Operations Research/Systems Analysis

Pay Range:
Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
