Quantum-Si Senior Manager, Engineering in San Diego, California

Quantum-Si is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager Engineering to lead a team of talented Mechanical, Electrical, and Optical Engineers, and to make impacts on the development of our next generation protein sequencer.

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Provide functional management to a team of mechanical, electrical, and optical engineers on complex activities.

  • Complete projects on time and within budget.

  • Independently manage a technical group to achieve project objectives.

  • Drive projects to meet cost, quality, and schedule targets.

  • Design for manufacturability to ensure products can be produced efficiently and cost- effectively.

  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and vendors as needed.

  • Communicate individual expectations, conduct regular 1:1s and performance reviews, provide performance-based feedback, and support career development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, with experience in electrical engineering, optical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other related fields.

  • 12+ years engineering experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Prior experience of leading, mentoring, and developing an engineering team

  • Strong tactical decision-maker that handles unforeseen issues.

  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Prior experience of product development from concept through launch and transfer to manufacturing.

  • Precision machine design proficiency, controlling degrees of freedom, error budgeting, material selection, GD&T, design for manufacturability.

  • Hardware, equipment, or machine build design experience.

  • Ability to cover multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Experience with SolidWorks

  • Up to 50% travel to the Branford, CT office

Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it’s ok if you don’t!):

  • Knowledge of motion control systems is a plus.

  • Experience with Six Sigma/DRM and design for cost.

  • Background and involvement in performing product risk management.

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $ 165,000- $195,000 Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, level of the position, an individual’s skills, knowledge and abilities, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all full-time employees are eligible for our discretionary bonus program and equity as part of the compensation package.
