The Senior Health & Wellness Coordinator will act as an integral member of Global Health Services (GHS) and provide support to integrated teams including occupational health professionals, employee assistance professionals, and wellness professionals for the Janssen Pharmaceutical Research & Development, a Johnson & Johnson Company, San Diego, CA site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibits extensive working knowledge of Health & Wellness initiatives.

  • Interacts with Health & Wellness team members, Employee Assistance Professionals, Environmental Health Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S), Human Resources, Facilities Management, and other on-site departments, individual employees and contractors; and all Health & Wellness vendors in order to deliver the Health & Wellness programs outlined in the Business Plan and Goals/Objectives.

  • Initiates, coordinates, and participates in the planning and implementation of Health & Wellness programs including, but not limited to, educational and training seminars, screening programs, and Health Profile processes.

  • Assumes responsibility for logistics, scheduling, publicity, problem resolution, and reporting of results.

  • Designs and produces department materials (such as forms, documents, brochures, presentations, giveaways etc.) utilizing advanced skills in software applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Collaborates with EHS&S in medical surveillance management as needed.

  • Assists in the identification process of high-risk employees to ensure Johnson & Johnson and OSHA regulatory compliance.

  • In accordance with Johnson & Johnson Protocols, manages preplacement, medical surveillance, and other medical examination programs for the site.

  • Tracks expenditures. Troubleshoots invoicing problems; works with vendors to rectify situations, coordinates with Accounts Payable representatives to obtain resolutions.

  • Serves as site medical records retention manager. Establishes, updates, and archives files as needed.

  • Utilizes medical management software and spreadsheets to maintain activity logs. Coordinates and compiles statistical data for Health & Wellness management.

  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of site protocols and software to assist in the appropriate coordination of emergency situations.

  • Provides technical assistance upon request. Serves as “goodwill ambassador” (front-line liaison and spokesperson) between Health & Wellness and the operating company.

  • Serves on site specific committees and regional/national Health & Wellness task forces.



  • A minimum of Vocational, Certificate, Technical or Associates is required .

    Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum of 3 years of administrative experience is required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with exceptional interpersonal, customer service, and time management skills.

  • The ability to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, and achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organizational skills, must be able to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and operate with poise and professionalism in a complex, and rapidly changing environment.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with productivity tools and portal technology (OurSource, Zoom, MS Teams, Sharepoint sites)

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

  • CPR/AED training is required within first 90 days of employment (company provided).


  • Administrative experience in Human Resources or a health-related area

  • Experience with Ariba or other related accounts payable systems

  • Experience with a medical documentation database software

  • Familiarity with worker's compensation claims management, medical records filing procedures, knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, appointment scheduling and compliance with OSHA regulations


  • Language-English

  • Travel percentage – less than 10% national
