What you'll bring

  • 4+ years of technical accounting experience with accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

  • Ability to interpret and present technical accounting details in lay terms to non-accounting business partners.

  • Highly motivated self-starter that can work independently in a dynamic, multi-business unit environment across all levels of management.

  • Public accounting or large public company experience strongly preferred.

  • Software industry experiences a plus.

  • Analytical thinker who can identify and implement effective processes improvements.

  • Large accounting software package expertise (Oracle financials, etc).

  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Outstanding Excel skills.

  • CPA preferred.

  • BS or BA Degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.

How you will lead

This role is within the Corporate Accounting and Reporting organization. The position is located in San Diego, CA. This position is primarily responsible for overseeing the accounting for our prepaid purchases. This includes various month-end duties such as preparing journal entries, maintaining account reconciliations, etc.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to collaborate and lead across multiple functions and roles to achieve accounting objectives. If and when issues are identified, the leader will use their strong change management skills and to drive issues through to resolution and subsequent validation with the full transparency of involved stakeholders at all levels within the larger Intuit organization.

  • Gather, prepare, and maintain journal entries consistent with GAAP and corporate accounting policies to ensure close timelines are met.

  • Work closely with business partners and finance partners on accounting related matters

  • Ability to interpret contracts and provide appropriate accounting conclusions to support our financials

  • Effectively assess risk over accounts and areas of responsibility. Apply judgment to ensure that financial integrity of accounting entries, accruals, and account reconciliations are intact and operating effectively.

  • Participate in the month and quarter end close process and related responsibilities for the accounting department.

  • Prepare and maintain reports / schedules for management, prepare schedules requested by internal and external auditors.

  • Support compliance and improve processes and internal controls in area of responsibility.

  • Work directly with external auditors to support financial statement audits and control environment testing.
