Job Description

AECOM is seeking Project Manager (Aviation) who has worked with airport terminals to be based in San Diego, CA.

Position Summary:

  • Responsible for the overall management administration to project and assists in establishing project specific objectives and policies.

  • Provides management and guidance to subordinate managers, enforces company and project policies, and a primary liaison between AECOM and client interface.

  • Oversees and ensures all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule through subordinate managers and supervisors.

  • Responsible for administering the project from budgeting/schedule stage through procurement and contract closeout. Position has significant profit/loss responsibility for assigned project.

The Project Manager will report to an NT1 Terminal and Roadways Program Manager. The position’s scope includes the New Terminal 1 Building and other duties as assigned. This position is responsible for the completion of assigned projects within established scope, schedule, and budget. This project is using a Progressive Design Build delivery method.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide direction and management for projects as assigned and ensures on-schedule completion within or below budget in accordance with contractual obligations

  • Coordinate and participate in design evolution and review of plans, stakeholder coordination, phasing and schedule development.

  • Understand and implements program goals and devise methods to accomplish them

  • Mitigating issues that develop during projects.

  • Develop and manage scope to meet project goals and objectives

  • Act as ADC representative with contractor and stakeholders during the program execution

  • Negotiate changes to the scope of work with the contractors

  • Participate in negotiations with regulatory agencies in support of ADC

  • Understand and implement the Project Management Plan

  • Monitor the draft and final deliverables for adherence to program requirements for all areas of the project

  • Plan, direct, supervise, and control the execution of all technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned project

  • Field responsibilities may include labor relations, procurement and payment to contractors and consultants

  • Work with other team members to follow budget, schedules, and plan for all elements of a project

  • Ensure that the project meets or exceeds goals established in this plan

  • Work with ADC management to devise and execute actions plans to rectify potential cost overruns or delays, or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work

  • Maintain current and timely change orders

  • Promote excellence on the project through application of Quality Assurance processes

  • Promote a Safety-First approach in all matters and zero approach to accidents on projects.

  • Monitor and report to management on the progress of all project activity within the program, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule

  • Establish regular meetings to review project status and formulate action items

  • Contribute to the advancement of ADC’s goals through commitment to productive collaboration with all stakeholders

  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Must pass drug and alcohol screening and background screening for airport badging.

  • A valid Class C driver’s license and the ability to maintain eligibility under the Authority’s Authorized Drivers Program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or equivalent experience

  • Previous project management experience on similar or related large-scale airport terminal projects

  • 15+ years of similar work experience is required

  • Knowledge of, and experience with, Design-Build and Progressive Design Build delivery methods

  • Architect or engineer professional registration is preferred

  • Experience with projects more than $10 million is preferred

  • Proven ability to perform in a management capacity

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills

  • Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations

  • Knowledgeable of current technology and how it can be effectively utilized on the project

Additional Information

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $180,000.00 - $220,000.00.
