Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$64.955 - $83.813 - $102.671

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

The Program Manager of the Spine and Neurosurgical Service Lines will participate in the development and implementation of comprehensive spine and neurosurgical services. This position will provide specialized coordination of care for patients with spine and neurosurgical services. Accountabilities include pre-operative patient education, care redesign, refinement of clinical protocols, reporting of outcomes, enhancement of patient/family satisfaction, physician communication, and interdisciplinary team communication. Develops collaborative relationships with medical directors, medical groups, other Sharp HealthCare facilities, the community, and professional organizations to ensure the hospital and Sharp HealthCare remain at the forefront of spine and neurosurgical excellence. Works closely with internal and external constituents to ensure that program services are well integrated with existing capabilities across transitions of care and the care continuum.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

  • 5 Years RN clinical role in acute care setting.

  • California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Healthcare or business

  • 2 Years management and/or leadership experience.

Essential Functions

  • Teamwork and Collaboration Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team including nurses, physical therapists, physicians, case managers, and other staff to identify appropriate solutions for patients and staff.Serves as an expert, resource and liaison for patients, providers, and staff.Promotes team effectiveness by fostering collaboration, communication, and cooperation.Develop/foster peer relationships that promote efficient integrated departmental operations.Collaborates with marketing to promote the hospital as well as new programs and services.Participates in hospital quality improvement efforts.

  • Care Redesign for Optimal Outcomes Seek to improve systems and processes that ultimately improve patient outcomes and staff performance.Research and implement evidence-based guidelines and national standards of care.Coordinates the monitoring of quality outcomes for the spine and neurosurgical patient populations, including participation in registriesAligns Sharp HealthCare’s strategic goals into local goals for the hospital.Leads timely performance improvement initiatives to achieve optimal patient safety, quality, and service outcomes.Responsible for the patient and caregiver education programs which include the development, revision and implementation of patient education materials, videos, and classes specific to spine and neurosurgical care.Participates in the development of Sharp HealthCare service line continuum, ensuring the incorporation of quality and financial outcome indicators.Assists in the development of quality indicators and monitors/analyzes achievement of benchmark and best practice goals.Collaborates with healthcare team to implement action plans to enhance quality outcomes across the continuum.Develops data extraction quality studies and reports results of data quality and outcomes based on developed action plans to Quality Council, Leadership committee, and appropriate medical committees as needed.

  • Facilitator of Learning Provides education to staff, patients, caregivers, and the community.Develops and presents educational programs to promote Sharp HealthCare, including educational symposiums, and physician-lead in-services.Participates in internal and external activities that expand knowledge, such as attendance at educational forums related to the service line.

  • CommunicationPromotes system focus in quality monitoring.Collaborates on a routine basis with specialty service line providers at all Sharp HealthCare facilities.Facilitates information sharing and project coordination where appropriate between facilities.Develops collaborative relationships with spine neurosurgical program staff and other related specialists, departments, hospitals, healthcare committees, physicians, and other agencies to facilitate and support quality services and financial viability at Sharp HealthCare.Establishes and maintains a communication system providing or supporting service line and program development.Uses communication strategies with individuals and groups that result in achievement of intended outcomes.

  • Community Contributes to Sharp HealthCare’s organizational mission, vision, and values by understanding the needs of the community and increasing the effectiveness of Sharp HealthCare meeting those needs.Demonstrate a commitment to serving other employees through teamwork, collaboration, and development of others.Serves as liaison between the community we serve and the various spine and neurosurgical teams across the care continuum.

  • Leadership Serves as a positive role model to promote employee empowerment, effective leadership, communication, and pro-active problem solving.Provides ongoing consultation to the team and to other staff regarding patient care issues and needs.Establishes regularly scheduled meetings with the team to review program initiatives, data, and other items pertinent to program growth and development.Actively participates in strategic planning process.Actively participates in departmental task forces.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience in spine and neurosurgery, and the ability to manage multiple groups, interactive productively with varying levels of personnel and staff; provide program direction and development.

  • Excellent communication and management skills. Ability to produce and utilize clinical, quality and financial data for project tracking and outcomes achievement.

  • Flexibility to deal with and manage change. Technical knowledge of spine and neurosurgery.

  • Advanced knowledge of computer system, information management and data analysis. Understands and is able to articulate the principle of disease management and case management models.
