Sempra Services Corporation Power Marketer - ERCOT 24-69738 in San Diego, California

This is a job for a Power Marketer - ERCOT position with a company located in the San Diego, CA area.

Primary Purpose: Responsible for leading and executing Sempra Infrastructure's (SI) renewable energy procurement strategy. Lead commercial negotiations for SI's industrial load and interconnections while developing structured transactions and risk management strategies to help drive SI's investment decisions. Support SI's project development teams and optimize project-specific carbon reduction goals (ex: renewable energy credits (RECs), responsibly sourced gas (RSG), carbon offsets and other clean energy products). Partner with internal and external stakeholders, project developers, local utilities, ISO staff and regulatory commissions. In addition, the Director - Power Procurement & Origination will lead the cross-commodity mid-marketing and origination efforts for the Commercial Optimization (CO) group.

Duties and Responsibilities: Leads various cross-functional groups across SI business lines related to renewable energy procurement, management of commercial/industrial load, structured transactions, risk management and sustainability initiatives working directly with the project leadership teams in the LNG, Net-Zero Solutions and Clean Power business lines. Participates in the development, implementation and execution of power interconnection, procurement, load management strategies and leads the commercial negotiations with counterparties, utilities, and developers to meet SI level and CO specific goals. Portfolio is expected to be largely composed of third party power procurement as opposed to company-owned generation. Manages interconnection requests/studies and works with project teams to ensure viability of sites. Research and reports on global trends and regulations related to ESG decarbonization and energy security. Work with leaders within the Commercial Optimization group on cultivating mid-marketing and origination efforts across various commodities. Develop and maintain external counterparty relationships to optimize trading and marketing opportunities related to SI's portfolio of renewable assets and/or commercial loads. Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Marketing, Engineering, Legal or similar field. 12+ Renewable energy procurement and commercial load management with an emphasis on asset development and marketing. Direct experience in ISO markets including ERCOT, MISO, and CAISO. Knowledge of economic, financial, and physical principles governing energy transactions. Ability to work well with limited supervision. Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to be detail oriented. Knowledge of interconnections, transmission development, power plant operating characteristics and constraints. Knowledge of credit matters and risk management principles and analysis methodologies. Knowledge of ISO regulations, tariffs and local utility requirements. Knowledge of various Public Utility Commissions (Public Utility Commission of Texas, Louisiana Public Service Commission, California Public Utilities Commission etc.) and current stakeholder initiatives. Strong commercial acumen, negotiation and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated and able to lead and work in a team environment. Ability to independently arrive at sound conclusions and recommendations. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of financial models, forecasting, and energy analytics. Knowledge of organizational management and supervision. Ability to achieve business objectives by working with and through subordinates and team members. Strong cross-organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Finance, Marketing, Engineering, Legal or similar field. Experience with CENACE. Knowledge in environmental products (RECs, RNG, Hydrogen, Carbon, etc.).

HYBRID: Work a combination of onsite and remote days each w ek, typically 3 days per week onsite.
