BAE Systems Mid-Level Systems Engineer Design and Test in San Diego, California
Job Description
BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Mid-level Systems Engineer with 4 years of experience. The qualified candidate will have the opportunity to work with platforms and mission applications for intelligence and defense customers with domain emphasis in targeting, missile-centric product generation, navigation products, and Geospatial Intelligence in the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) sector of BAE Systems.
The candidate will apply Systems Engineering principles to support the requirements analysis, design, development, and verification of targeting and weaponeering software. In addition, the qualified candidate will work in a rapid integration and development Agile multi-disciplinary team of 5 10 and have a hand in the entire systems engineering process. Tasks include:
Working with customers, end users, and other contractors within the DoD community in the understanding and development of ConOps for intelligence, targeting, weaponeering, and mission planning
Application of agile processes for analyzing customer requirements and design artifacts, system architecture models, user workflows for the development of system capabilities and features, demonstrations, test plans, and delivery of documentation and products to the customers, end users, and other contractors
Working with agile development teams consisting of systems and software engineers in establishing systems design including system capabilities, features, and user stories; applying iterative software development processes and methods
Collaborating with developers; providing feedback and insight to development teams on requirements, interfaces, and design
Developing, documenting, and executing test plans and procedures for all phases of testing from application to full system integration testing, defining verification and validation methods
Participating in and preparation of materials for demonstrations, technical reviews, and various other technical exchange meetings
Recommending and developing new, innovative, and efficient process improvements to current testing processes and methodologies including use of automated testing approaches

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed fulltime on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor s degree in engineering/technical discipline or related education, with 4 year(s) related experience
Active DoD Secret Clearance
Experience with agile systems engineering activities, processes, and methodologies
Experience with requirements development, requirements management systems, system design of complex systems, incorporating new designs and systems into existing platforms and developing technical documentation
Experience with requirements development and complex systems design
Experience with requirements and design verification, developing/executing test cases
Demonstrated technical writing skills
Knowledge of issue tracking systems (e.g., ADO, Jira)
Proficiency with MS Windows Operating environment and MS Office products
Proactive attitude and the ability to be productive in a dynamic/collaborative environment
Strong oral and written communications skills
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, users, and contractors
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Experience with operational aspects of targeting, weaponeering, navigation products, or mission planning systems
Experience with image exploitation or targeting systems such as GXP or CGS
Experience with intel and weapon systems software (e.g., MIDB, JTT, JWS)
Experience or familiarity with MBSE tools and methods (preferably DoDAF)
Familiarity with UI/ UX design tools (Visio or similar)
Experience managing requirements, design artifacts, and test plans
Experience managing project milestones and technical reviews
Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $95106 - $161680
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
