Actalent Manufacturing Technician in San Diego, California

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Technician who will play a pivotal role in executing manufacturing and quality control tasks

according to our Manufacturing procedures. This is an incredible opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference and looking to further their career in the biotech industry. We are looking for candidates with a solid background in consumable manufacturing. Experience with basic laboratory equipment (pipettes, balances, etc)a must and liquid handlers (highly preferred), as well as library prep and experience with sensitive reagents such as DNA.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

· Execute manufacturing and quality tasks according to Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and/or Batch Records:

· Handle DNA and sensitive reagents (i.e. enzymes) in various tubes and plate formats (i.e. 96 well matrix plates)

· Operate and troubleshoot analytical equipment, such as automated electrophoresis and plate readers

· Operate liquid handler and assist engineering team with basic troubleshooting

· Collect, analyze and interpret quality data; respond and escalate issues to supervisor or engineering team as needed

· Track and maintain a correct inventory of materials (including a wide variety of raw materials and finished goods in a plate and/or tube format) through cycle counts; order and receipt of materials

· Maintain a clean and safe work area; assist in driving 6S activities

· Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with scientists, engineers, and manufacturing personnel to support R&D and process improvement activities to meet production goals

· Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant science (chemistry, biochemistry, biology). An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered

  • Experience working in a start-up company is a plus

  • Detail-oriented, organized and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Relevant experience in consumable manufacturing and/or interdisciplinary R&D team

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and manufacturing related software

  • Experience with high-throughput NGS library preparation is a plus
