PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The purpose of the AVP of Enterprise Analytics is to develop strategy and deliver advanced analytics across the organization by prioritizing areas of highest enterprise value. This role provides supporting end-to-end leadership in digital transformation, including the ability to support re‑engineering business processes to reduce expenses, grow revenue and capture the data required for a robust digital customer experience.

This role requires close collaboration with business units including underwriting, claims, finance, accounting, actuarial, law, human resources and technology, working in partnership to ensure delivery of analytics solutions follows enterprise data architecture and engineering standards and supports cost-effective maintenance. This role closely aligns to our business and operations units to derive value from analytics and support execution of the company’s business objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads analytics including developing and engineering advanced analytics products in house and sourcing and managing analytics strategic partnerships with third parties.

  • Establishes clear vision and strategy and manages delivery of AI and ML models as appropriate to support business development, company operations and objectives.

  • Supports auditability of AI and ML models by outside third parties.

  • Establishes and executes a roadmap for advancement of enterprise capabilities to support delivery of an exceptional digital customer experience in alignment with other departments.

  • Partners with other departments to evaluate relevant third-party solutions, negotiate competitive terms and manage third party delivery in support of enterprise objectives.

  • Leads the building, delivery and maintenance of in-house solutions in alignment with technology stack changes over time.

  • Protects and secures private and confidential information in accordance with company standards, laws and regulations.

  • Analyzes current state of company analytics practices to determine areas for continuous improvement in operations.

Leads advanced analytics to scale efficiency gains across the organization.

  • Leads development, engineering, delivery, management and maintenance of complex analytics products using agile delivery methods that drive business value working in collaboration with teams in other departments.

  • Collaborates with departments across value streams to engineer analytics, create appropriate data models, develop data enrichment processes and support process re-engineering to streamline operations and support delivery of automation and digital experiences.

  • Ensures effective collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the development of best practices within the Enterprise Analytics team and other departments.

  • Implements Enterprise Data Governance policies and demonstrates exemplary data stewardship.

Builds, manages and leads a high performing team of analytics professionals, including analytics engineers, data scientists, data analysts, AI engineers, and ML specialists.

  • Communicates Mission, Values, and other organization operating principles to direct and indirect reports.

  • In partnership with leadership, ensures performance and outcomes achieve excellence in delivery and customer experience. Ensures that the entire team is engaged and that leadership practices for the department encourage development, recognition, and retention.

  • Oversees the performance management and development process for team members and performs performance management duties, development planning and coaching for direct reports.

  • Serves as the expert and acts as a resource for team members to inspire, answer questions and solve complex problems.

  • Develops and manages budget, technology and other resources, workload, and customer requests for services. Ensures adherence to all Company policies and procedures and Compliance responsibilities.

  • Ensures that training and development is provided on a consistent basis to maintain and enhance skill levels in all disciplines; recognizes high potentials and provides additional training, resources and stretch assignments to motivate individual growth.

SUPERVISORY RESPONISBILITIES

Directly supervises employees within the analytics team and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. These responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; conducting performance and salary reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to further their skills and knowledge; creating and monitoring development plans; setting performance expectations/goals; forecasting staffing needs and planning for peak times and absences; enforcing department policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university required with a major or emphasis in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years of related experience in data and analytics required.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing or directing a team.

  • Commercial P&C insurance experience preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • None required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Experience with data architecture, cloud data management, data engineering and analytics engineering.

  • Knowledge of or experience with the following platforms: SQL Server, Snowflake, Alation, Fivetran, dbt, Workday, and Salesforce.

  • Experience with Python, SQL, AI & ML models and tools, and AWS.

  • Knowledge of core insurance applications, commercial insurance underwriting processes, claims processes, and finance and accounting processes.

  • Skills in vendor management, value stream mapping, process engineering and analytics engineering.

  • Familiarity with financial statements and closing processes, insurance product development, unit statistical reporting, data governance, and AI governance.

  • Knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations, insurance compliance laws and regulations, data ethics, insurance business models, and insurance distribution models.

  • Strong skills in algebra and statistics, SQL and business architecture.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to develop presentations and present to all levels of leadership.

  • Possess a strategic vision with strong collaboration and change management skills.

  • Broad knowledge of talent management and development, recruiting, cost management, financial planning and budgeting.

  • Ability to influence and maintain confidentiality with intellectual curiosity and a desire for lifelong learning.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee may need to sit in front of a computer for a period of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally need to reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in an office environment and requires the frequent use of a computer, telephone, copier and other standard office equipment.

The current range for this position is

$160,094.56 - $286,572.60

This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate, including experience, education and the location of the role and considers employees performing substantially similar work.
