Intuit Lead Accountant in San Diego, California

Overview

Come join Intuit’s Corporate Accounting & Reporting organization as a Lead Project Accountant to accelerate money solutions for Intuit’s customers. Through our TurboTax and adjacent offerings, our goal is to power the prosperity of our customers by providing faster and easier access to money when our customers need it most.

The role requires a blend of strong foundational accounting skills, operational rigor, and strategic planning in service to powering our customer’s prosperity in parallel to delivering business value. Specifically, this requires active management and reconciliation of orchestrated cash distribution, systemic collection management, and analytics to appropriately account for related reserves.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the ability to collaborate and lead across multiple functions and roles, possess strong accounting foundations, leverage data backed analytics to instill confidence and identify opportunities for growth.

What you'll bring

  • 7+ years of technical accounting experience with accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations, with experience in the lending field

  • Ability to interpret and present technical accounting details in lay terms to non-accounting business partners

  • Strong technical (GAAP) and financial accounting skills and ability to document accounting conclusions in a technical white paper

  • Ability to work hybrid out of our San Diego office

  • Public accounting or large public company experience strongly preferred

  • Analytical thinker who can identify and implement effective processes improvements

  • Large accounting software package expertise (Oracle financials, etc).

  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, strong written and oral communication skills

  • CPA preferred

  • BS or BA Degree preferred or equivalent work experience

How you will lead

  • Understand the end-to-end operational, financial, and systemic environment and key upstream and downstream processes that drive financial and customer impacts.

  • Stay connected to current business strategies to ensure appropriate accounting operations are established and performed.

  • Responsible for applying, enforcing and executing the Company's accounting & operational policies as it relates to the role.

  • Perform analysis to support reserves ranging from bad debt to contra-revenue

  • Proactively present accounting positions to enable accurate and timely financial forecasting.

  • Apply professional skepticism and an inquisitive approach to review and analyze the appropriateness and reasonableness of underlying accounting principles that support reserves.

  • Able to clearly articulate results, variances and demonstrate an understanding of root cause to management.

  • Work closely with business unit partners, accounting leads and internal/external auditors on accounting matters.

  • Comfortable working with cross functional teams in order to understand company offerings and implement accounting models that properly account for both assets & liabilities according to accounting principles and company policy.

  • Streamline analytics & operational capabilities to ensure efficient & accurate accounting results.

  • Participate in the month and quarter end close process and related responsibilities for the accounting department.

  • Establish controls necessary to ensure that forecasts and financial statement classifications are compliant with Intuit company policy and GAAP.

  • Prepare and maintain reports / schedules for senior management, prepare schedules requested by internal and external auditors.
