The Position
The Instructional Lab Technician assists in the instructional program by performing complex technical work in an instructional laboratory environment for a highly technical and complex vocational or academic subject area.

Major Responsibilities
FUNCTION :
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist in the instructional program by performing complex technical work in an instructional laboratory environment for a highly technical and complex vocational or academic subject area such as physical or life science, computer science, electronics, media production, animal health, or auto mechanics.
Qualifications
REQUISITE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES INCLUDE :
Desirable qualifications are dependent on the specific option (physical or life science, computer science, electronics, media production, animal health, or auto mechanics) to which assigned and vary depending on assignment. Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: satisfactory completion of 15 semester units of courses related to the field of specialty and at least one year of successful work experience in the field of specialty. Experience in an instructional setting is desirable. Possession of a valid California driver’s license. (Some positions, such as the one assigned to animal health, may require state certification.)

SELECTED CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT :
Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (Note: The certificate must be renewed every 4 years as a condition of continuing employment);
Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the district’s expense (Clearance must be received prior to first day of employment); AND
Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
