Amergis Healthcare Technician - ST in San Diego, California
Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Healthcare Technician II to respond to injuries andillnesses and performs associated clerical tasks in a lead position within anoccupational or industrial health setting. The Healthcare Technician IIfunctions as the lead scheduler and handles assignment designations. TheHealthcare Technician II also performs first aid care in accordance withestablished protocols and orders from the medical director or other licensedhealthcare supervisor, as applicable.
Responsibilities:
Functionsas the lead scheduler and handles assignment designations
Reviewswork of Employee Wellness Technician I
Toursfacility for safety hazards, makes appropriate notations
Takesreport of injury and completes necessary paperwork
Determinesnature and extent of occupational illness or injury
Initiatesfirst aid procedures as appropriate
Administersfirst-aid treatment at site of emergency, performing such activities asapplication of splints, administration of oxygen, treatment of minor wounds orabrasions, or administration of artificial resuscitation
Conductsand records health screening tests (as certified), such as breath alcoholtesting, urine drug screening, Snellen and Titmus eye exams, and others testsas prescribed/indicated
Establishestriage areas as indicated by the circumstance
Distributesand gets signed Refusal of Advised Medical Care form if employee refusesmedical care
Transportsemployees to medical facilities for non-life threatening or non-emergencyvisits
Arrangesfor transportation to acute care facilities as indicated by the employee’scondition.
TheEmployee Wellness Technician is not permitted to personally transport employeesto medical facilities when the following conditions exist or are suspected:
Chest / Heart Pain
Severe Head Trauma
Loss of Consciousness / Fainting /Black Out / Syncope
Seizures
Loss of Words / Sounds / Letters -Altered Level of Consciousness
Electrocution
Major and or Symptomatic Amputation
Communicateswith professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facility to obtain instructions regarding furthertreatment and to arrange for reception at treatment facility
Providespatient care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that considers cultural diversity and age appropriateness sothat autonomy, rights, and dignity are preserved
Complieswith Company policies/procedures
Complieswith client facility policies/procedures
Performsother duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
CurrentEMT and/or Paramedic certification preferred
HighSchool diploma or its equivalent
Oneyear of related experience
Currentdriver’s license (meet state/client requirements)
CurrentCPR card; other health and screening tests as required by specific facilitiesand/or regulatory agency
