Leidos Full Stack Software Engineer/Developer in San Diego, California

The Leidos Military and Veterans Health Solutions Operation has an opening for a Full Stack Software Engineer/Developer to join the Operational Readiness Directorate at the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego, CA. This position will support the Epidemiology and Data Management Support Department and involves programming, documenting, managing configuration, testing, and bug fixing involved in creating and maintaining applications and databases. This work will include collaborating with other software engineers/developers and researchers in the Department.

This is a full-time position in San Diego with a hybrid work schedule (on-site and telework). The candidate for this position must be located within commuting distance of San Diego to work on-site at the Naval Health Research Center as needed. The number of days on-site may vary, and the schedule is subject to change based on program and customer requirements. Work hours will coincide with the standard command business hours of 0700-1630.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain applications and databases meeting technical, consumer, and customer needs

  • Produce thorough documentation

  • Simplify, modernize, and migrate legacy applications

  • Coordinate with security teams to ensure architecture and software compliance

  • Implement new features and bug fixes

  • Work with QA engineers to test and deploy applications

  • Work with product managers to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and trends in web, application, and database development

  • Effectively communicate with peers, project leads, and the government customer in performance of program efforts.

  • Work independently to achieve day-to-day objectives which impact operational results and project deliverables for the Operational Readiness Directorate and Force Health Analytics Department.

  • Ensure tasks are completed on time for mission requirements.

  • Assist other technical staff with tasks as needed for customer mission.

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have completed a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited US university, or international university of equivalent standard, in computer science or a related field.

  • Have at least 5 years of experience in full stack development.

  • Demonstrate experience with at least one back-end programming language, such as Python, Java, PHP, C#.

  • Demonstrate experience with at least one database, such as MSSQL, MySQL or PostgreSQL.

  • Demonstrate experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs

  • Demonstrate experience with version control systems, such as Gitlab.

  • Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.

  • Act on objectives in an independent manner and is a self-starter,

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills with all members of team and organization.

  • Demonstrate excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills and an ability to work cooperatively in a team setting. This includes flexibility in responding to changing demands, timelines, and priorities.

  • Hold US Citizenship and are able to obtain and maintain a SECRET government security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with medical terms and electronic health record (EHR) systems

  • Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) and related processes, such as the Authority to Operate (ATO)

  • Have demonstrated experience with .NET Framework

  • Have demonstrated experience with AWS or similar cloud computing platform

  • Have demonstrated experience with DevOps

  • Have demonstrated experience with security best practices

  • Hold an active Interim or Secret security clearance

Pay Range:

Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
