Teradata Director, Transformation Program Delivery in San Diego, California

Director, Transformation Program Delivery

Position Summary:

The Director, Transformation Program Delivery is a hybrid role of transformation process management and strategic project delivery. Owning the transformation process requires facilitation of monthly transformation management rhythms. This is not a clipboard tracking role. This director must develop a deep understanding of all in-flight initiatives and establish working relationships with the business-led transformation leadership teams (initiative owners, workstream leads and sponsors). This knowledge of the people and project coupled with high-usage of our project tracking tool will enable the Director to discern when a project is on track vs. off allowing the Transformation Office to deploy resources more effectively. It will also allow the Director to manage the weekly and monthly transformation meeting and deliverable cadences.

Additional responsibilities will include ensuring customized initiative-level change management plans are in place, vetted with Field leaders, and adjusted on-the-fly as required. Some effort may be required doing hands-on project work designed to stand-up, accelerate, and implement our most strategic and financially important projects.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Owns the production of standard reporting and cadence to drive workstream accountability and commitments. Requires deep knowledge of all in-flight initiatives and close relationships with the initiative owners and the business transformation leadership team. Also requires strong PowerPoint presentation creation skills.

50% of Time

Reviews the TO reports before released and summarizes the key takeaways; prepares list of identified risks for CTO to deep dive with the workstream. Requires an ability to discern high vs. low risk and high vs. low importance issues elevating the right issues to the CTO and broader TO team in a timely manner.

20% of Time

Effectively utilizes a “challenger” mindset to stretch initiative team thinking, eliminate roadblocks, align on decisions, and coordinate the solution between the TO and workstreams. Requires deep knowledge of in-flight and pipeline initiatives. Help the workstream teams be successful through sage counseling, issue escalation and resource deployment recommendation.

20% of Time

Ensures customized change management plans are in place, vetted with Field leaders, and adjusted on-the-fly as required. Requires deep knowledge of projects and Teradata business model in advance of pilot and rollout to ensure that proper change management plans are designed and implemented. This role will be a liaison with our communications and/or change management teams.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • 15+ years of professional experience including 5+ years of consulting experience or similar experience on a corporate strategy or transformation team leading large business change projects. Experience as an engagement manager or case team leader at a major consulting firm is preferred

  • Change management experience – history of developing, executing and refining change management plans that are tailored to project goals and reflect an understanding of how to improve project impact stickiness through effective change management techniques

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA is preferred

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong strategic thinker who can dissect a business problem, formulate action plans, apply analytics and work with a team to deliver solutions

  • Actively supports workstreams throughout initiative lifecycle, from business plan creation to implementation

  • Coaches workstream leads / initiative owners to deblock initiative issues, drive value faster and higher than plan

  • Cross-functional project team management – experience leading project teams comprised of multiple business functions operating out of multiple locations and driving successful completion of work

  • Excellent communication skills – ability to craft notes that distill key messages and draft executive leadership team presentations

  • Strong prioritization skills – ability to focus their work and that of their colleagues on the highest priority elements to ensure that team avoids low value activities and delivers work in timely manner

  • Instills financial and operational tracking rigor to initiatives and helps workstream leads to anticipate risks across their portfolio of initiatives
