The UPS Store, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of UPS, is the world's largest franchisor of retail shipping, postal, printing and business service centers. The Community & Public Relations Intern will have the opportunity to work within a large organization and learn how Community Relations and Public Relations works with other teams within the Marketing department. This role will support internal work for The UPS Store franchisees as well as external-facing content for customers. Expect a fast-paced environment, collaborative work, and pride in brand awareness.
Annual Salary: $52,000
Responsibilities and Duties:
Assists with planning, writing, and publishing content intended for both the franchisee and external customer audience
Corresponds with the franchise network on general PR and community relations questions
Educates the franchise network about new and current PR support tools and content available for use on the franchisee intranet
Assists with writing franchisee and customer stories, conducting interviews and preparing editorial content for external release
Research new PR tactics and competitor trends using informal and formal research techniques
Provides technology marketing with updated content for company website
Participates in Community Relations work supporting Corporate Social Responsibility charities
Helps with special projects, as needed
Performs analysis of key data and interprets findings for larger Marketing campaigns
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of public relations skills, including writing press releases, responding to media queries, writing media pitches and public speaking
Ability to balance multiple projects and expectations, while meeting all deadlines
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work as changes occur
Ability to professionally communicate verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences (internal, external, franchisee, etc.)
2 years of undergraduate education in Public Relations, Marketing Communication, Digital Engagement and/or a related area of study – Preferred
Experience using Microsoft Office suite of products preferred (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc.)
Ability to synthesize large amounts of information, think critically, ask questions, and provide creative ideas and feedback
Interested in supporting charitable causes
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer
Employer will not sponsor a visa for this or future positions
Must be currently located in San Diego, CA or willing to relocate yourself prior to beginning of internship period
Must be a rising college junior or senior, or recent graduate within the last 24 months
Must be able to professionally communicate verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences, on a variety of different platforms
Must be able to work in-person at The UPS Store, Inc., headquarters
