Job Description:
We are seeking compassionate, enthusiastic individuals to join our team of birth doulas. This role is ideal for those who have a natural ability to connect with people, are able to hold space for others and provide continuous unconditional support. No previous experience in doula work is required, as we provide comprehensive training.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide emotional, physical, and educational support to expectant mothers before, during, and after childbirth
Assist in creating a positive and calm birthing environment
Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure the best care for the mother and baby
Offer non-clinical guidance, support, and education on prenatal, birth, and postnatal care
Maintain flexible hours to accommodate the unpredictable nature of childbirth, including working weekends, evenings, and holidays
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Empathetic and patient nature
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical ability to stand for long periods and provide physical, mental and emotional support during childbirth

Job Requirements:
- Valid Driver's License:Possession of a valid driver's license is essential.
- Auto Insurance:Applicants must have current auto insurance coverage.
- Reliable Vehicle:You must have access to a reliable vehicle. This will enable you to reach clients in various locations, some of which may not be easily accessible by public transport.
- Flexibility for In-Home Visits:Willingness to perform face-to-face, in-home visits is crucial. These visits are integral to providing personalized and effective service to our clients.
- Capability for Online Visits:In addition to in-home and hospital visits, the ability to conduct online sessions with clients is required.
- Travel Readiness:Given the nature of the job, candidates should be prepared for travel within the assigned region.
- Background Check:All potential employees are required to undergo a comprehensive background check. This is a critical step to ensure the safety and integrity of our work environment, as well as to comply with industry standards and regulations. The background check will include, but may not be limited to, verification of past employment, educational qualifications, and any criminal history.
- Drug Testing:Candidates must also pass a drug test prior to employment. Our organization is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, and this includes ensuring a drug-free environment. The drug test may be conducted at the start of employment and may be repeated at intervals or under certain conditions as per company policy.
Additional Job Requirements - Physical Demands of This Position:
The role of a doula is both rewarding and physically demanding. Candidates should be prepared for the following physical activities, which are essential for effectively supporting clients through childbirth and postpartum care:
Standing: Frequently required during labor support, which may involve long periods of standing beside the birthing person, providing physical and emotional support.
Walking: Often necessary in various settings such as hospitals, birthing centers, and home visits. Walking may include accompanying clients on walks during early labor.
Sitting: Frequently needed for prenatal and postnatal visits, and during lengthy labors where sitting by the bedside or chair is required to provide continuous support.
Handling/Fingering: Occasionally needed for tasks like massage, acupressure, and using comfort measures tools. Also involves handling paperwork and birth equipment.
Reaching Outward: Occasionally required for accessing a d organizing birth support tools, or assisting with positioning aids during labor and birth.
Reaching Above Shoulder: Occasionally necessary for tasks such as retrieving supplies from higher storage or adjusting room settings for comfort.
Climbing, Crawling, Kneeling, Bending: Occasionally required in various labor positions and birth settings, including supporting clients in different birthing positions and assisting with mobility.
Lifting/Carrying: Occasionally necessary to lift or carry birthing supplies, comfort aids, or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, as needed in different birth environments.
Pushing/Pulling: Occasionally involved in moving furniture or equipment in a birthing space to create a comfortable environment, sometimes requiring pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs.
