Serco Autonomous Systems Engineer in San Diego, California
Serco Inc. is looking for a highly motivated Field Service Engineer to support the Naval information Warfare Center (NIWC), you will work on a broad portfolio of Autonomous Maritime Systems (AMS) programs in San Diego, CA geographic region.
This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain an active clearance. This position is also contingent upon award of contract.
The Autonomous Systems Engineer will support various unmanned technology developments for underwater mine countermeasures requiring research, analysis, engineering development, and test and evaluation support and subject matter expertise to construct an approach to readily assimilate existing and emerging technology that will interface with or become part of a common operator interface. Expertise and work efforts are focused on the analysis of customer's business goals, objectives, needs and the general business environment to solve technical problems. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Reports to a Program Manager or head of a unit/department under limited supervision. This position will support onsite NIWC customer facilities in San Diego, CA along with remote support.
In this role, you will:
Be familiar with a variety of systems engineering concepts, practices, and procedures. Develop, maintain, and upgrade architectures for UxV products. Evaluate, recommend, and implement automated test tools and general test strategies. Develop, publish, and implement test plans, analyze test results, and generate test reports for systems under test. Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Provide autonomous systems and maritime subject matter expertise in the systems engineering of unmanned vehicle (UxV) platforms
Analyze UxV system designs, specifications, and technical data to determine the developmental/operational readiness of UxV systems
Analyze results from UxV systems and capabilities under test/evaluation to ensure performance successfully meets engineering specifications and operational requirements
Investigate systems failures, evaluate/recommend corrective alternatives, and implement actions to ensure UxV systems maintain safe, effective operations and minimize/eliminate potential future system deficiencies
Formulate methods and processes which will increase safety, efficiency, and readiness
To be successful in the role, you will need:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum 5 years of experience engineering maritime systems, including a minimum of 2 years of experience in operational test planning, executing, and reporting
Current valid U.S. passport
Current active SECRET clearance
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the development of engineering systems and processes including operational requirements analysis, concept exploration and analysis, hardware development, test and evaluation planning and documentation, production, operational and logistics support analysis
At least one (1) year of demonstrated experience in managing engineering and design projects to include scope/requirements development, documentation, planning, scheduling, budgeting, monitoring, controlling, status reporting, drafting, editing, and presenting project related presentations
Proficiency in MS Office products to include Word, Power Point and Excel
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience working on acquisition programs ACAT IV or higher (I -III)
Travel and at-sea watch standing will be required
Minimum 25% to 50% travel CONUS/OCONUS
