We believe skills are transferable and passion for our mission goes a long way.  Your role as an Associate General Counsel:  The Associate General Counsel position is a unique opportunity for a detail oriented and experienced attorney to provide hands on legal support to various departments within the San Diego Padres, with a heavy focus on contract drafting and negotiating. This is a Full-time, in-person role, reporting to the General Counsel. A Part-Time position may be considered based on experience. All the responsibilities we will trust you with:                                Contract Management * Review, draft, negotiate and manage agreements, primarily for the sponsorship and event departments * Review and negotiate third party agreements, such as supply chain agreements, service agreements, software licenses, purchase agreements, rental agreements, construction agreements, confidentiality agreements * Draft new template agreements as needed and maintain existing template agreements up to date * Provide ancillary support required for the successful execution of events, such as drafting waivers, sweepstakes rules, music licenses and insurance reporting Litigation Management * Manage litigation intake, reporting and other initial litigation procedures * Communicate and collaborate with insurance carriers and outside law firms Other * Oversee corporate governance and all associated filings * Research and advise on laws and regulations applicable to consumer facing marketing, promotions, contests and ticket sales * Assist General Counsel with various duties as assigned Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:                  * Having a strategic mindset and hands-on approach with the ability to expertly handle high volumes of requests in a timely, effective manner * Proficient computer skills including experience with MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc., and general knowledge of basic office equipment including copier, laser printer, telephone, and computer * Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and effectively work well with others in a collaborative, respectful manner * Demonstrated ability to maintain strictest confidentiality in all aspects of job duties * Exceptional time management and organizational skills with capacity to handle high volumes of detailed work, multi-task and manage projects on strict deadlines * Maintain consistent, punctual attendance with professional demeanor and a high degree of discretion, integrity, and accountability You will be required to meet the following: * Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment * JD degree and California Bar admission * Minimum 4 years previous experience in legal or relevant work * Fluently bilingual in English/Spanish a plus * Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as needed * Able to travel as needed * Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds * As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check  Salary and additional compensation: Per the California pay transparency law, the base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000 to $180,000. As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills and any other factors the San Diego Padres considers relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
