Description

Our client, a leading company in the construction industry, is seeking an experienced and motivated Accounts Receivable Specialist to join their finance team. This company is known for its strong industry reputation and commitment to delivering quality projects. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing the company’s receivables and ensuring the timely collection of outstanding payments.

The Accounts Receivable Specialist will be responsible for managing the accounts receivable function, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliation of payments. The role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate and send accurate invoices to clients based on contract terms and project milestones.

  • Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up with clients on overdue accounts.

  • Manage collections, negotiating payment arrangements and resolving disputes as needed.

  • Reconcile payments and apply them accurately to customer accounts.

  • Assist in month-end close activities, including preparing reports and balancing accounts.

  • Work closely with the project management team to ensure accurate billing and timely payments.

  • Maintain positive relationships with clients, ensuring smooth communication regarding payment issues.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and industry regulations.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable or a related accounting role, preferably in the construction industry.

  • Knowledge of job costing, contract billing, and lien rights is a plus.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in processing financial transactions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with construction accounting software such as Procore, Viewpoint, or similar.

  • Familiarity with AIA billing and other industry-specific invoicing methods.

  • Knowledge of lien laws and payment terms in the construction industry.
