Job Description

We're looking for a Sr. Manager, Data Science to develop and design data-driven and strategic initiatives that optimize Walmart's omnichannel supply chain. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role within the organization with expectations to deliver results. In this role, you'll primarily be responsible for owning analytical projects and working cross-functionally across the organization to implement recommendations.

You will thrive in this role if you:

  • Excel in communicating with individuals and groups at all levels of an organization.

  • Bring a high degree of originality and creativity when developing solutions to improve existing business processes within the supply chain, utilizing methods such as statistical analysis, regression modeling, and optimization.

  • Are adept at dealing with ambiguity and making independent decisions about what data and approach is best for the task at hand.

  • You always ask the "so what" question and think multiple steps ahead.

Potential projects include:

  • Develop a network fulfillment strategy for the upcoming 18-months, determining the capacity and optimal use of each Store and Fulfillment Center asset in the network. Inherently, this requires cross-functional partnership with Transportation, FC Operations, Merchandising, Finance, Walmart Fulfillment Services, and other partners. Our role is to provide the bridge between today and the 5-10 year Supply Chain strategy, bringing partners along with us.

  • Deep dive the intricacies of how our order sourcing engine is creating promises for customers and identify opportunities for refinement and improvement.

  • Set strategy for new and converting assets, leveraging our unique insights into network flows to ensure that it provides optimal benefit for customers. Support business cases for capital projects.

  • Optimize network flows and day-to-day operations. For example, build a novel freight prioritization tool to drive Fulfillment Center execution.

  • Create automated and dynamic data sources for network capacity by node and various product types. Partner across the organization to systematize ordering processes that use these rules to make optimal choices without intervention.

  • Design source-of-truth reporting tools that provide visibility for leaders and root-cause opportunities for improvement.
