Element has an opportunity for a Senior Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team in San Bernardino. As a member of the Operations Team, the Senior Engineer position performs routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department and insures timely and accurate test results are provided to the customers. The Senior Engineer role will support with standardizing processes to increase efficiency within the department and utilization of the same tools across the department. The Senior Engineer will work closely with the Project Manager and General Manager to review quotes, project schedules, testing capabilities to maximize overall site testing capacity. Must be proficient in a number of core business and technical skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

PAY RANGE: $110,000.00 - $160,000.00 USD Annual DOE Responsibilities

Provide technical and administrative management to engineering staff and assure that the schedule and budget goals for the department are achieved. Manage and guide the activities of the engineering function. Plan engineering projects and oversee that they are running efficiently. 1. Act as liaison between team and upper management. 2. Work close with Applications Engineer when quoting new opportunities. Assess the feasibility of potential projects and determine what resources are required to complete them. Supports in generating appropriate milestones and scheduling for each project. Assign projects to the engineering department based on knowledge and capacity. Drives cross training within the engineering department to increase flexibility of project assignments. Evaluate results of tests to assure accomplishment of technical objectives are met. Identify and develop process improvement opportunities and engage the team to complete and implement them. Develop a structured engineering process that will standardize project management. Ensures that proper documentation, such as test specifications and procedures, is provided to the appropriate functional area. Work with site management to set priorities for all open projects. Engage with customers to win new work. May work with department staff to run certain tests, particularly if they are complex in nature. Other duties as assigned

Skills / Qualifications

Critical and analytical thinking for evaluating information carefully and solving complex problems Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Advanced understanding of Engineering principles. Previous exposure to fluids testing includes high- and low-pressure flows. Cryogenics experience Thermal shock testing exposure and life cycling. Expert understanding of data interpretation and troubleshooting. Ability to effectively communicate instructions while leading the teams to meet their goals. Detailed oriented for understanding complex systems. Some travel may be required Continuous Improvement Methodologies EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics, or equivalent engineering discipline. Master's degree in mechanical/aerospace or related discipline is a plus. 3-5 years of experience in fluids and/or physics applications and testing Aerospace/Space industry exposure Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma certifications is a plus NOTE: This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. * 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required.
