Valero Supervisor Audit in SAN ANTONIO, Texas

Description:

Valero is looking for a Supervisor Auditto join our team at the Headquarters in San Antonio, Texas.

The Supervisor Audit supports Valero’s business objective through internal audits and consulting reviews by helping to maximize profitability, maintain maximum operational efficiency of its business units, safeguard Corporate assets and ensure the reliability and accuracy of financial data. Develops personnel management skills by providing career-related mentoring and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads audit staff in examinations and appraisals of financial and operating controls and procedures, including: risk analysis; control identification and evaluation; audit program development and execution; development of recommendations; report writing or review; and audit follow up to ensure implementation of recommendations.
  • Participates in complex audit examinations as needed.
  • Develops personnel management skills including: interviewing, hiring, and training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Assists managers with the development of an annual Audit Plan to identify the areas of Valero's operations that will be audited.
  • Updates Management on audit projects, including status of project time budgets and schedules to ensure timely completion, and identification of significant issues.
  • Develops new or improved procedures/ideas related to internal controls to enhance overall profitability and efficiency of the Corporation and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Stays abreast of accounting and auditing standard, computer technology advancements, and applicable federal laws.
  • Partners with all areas of the Corporation to help create a cooperative teamwork atmosphere.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or higher-level degree - in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 8 years of combined experience in internal auditing, public accounting, and/or general accounting required, including 3 years of internal audit experience required.
  • Required to possess or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within specified timeframe.
  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in the refining and marketing business preferred.
  • Experience using data analytic/database tools (ACL, IDEA, ACCESS, SQL, or other querying tools).
  • SAP systems experience preferred.
  • Lead/supervisory experience preferred.
  • 1 relevant professional designation highly preferred: CPA, CIA, CISA, and/or CFE
