The Small Commercial Technology Underwriting Team is a high performing, versatile team driving success through collaboration and innovation. Success in this role will entail demonstrated sales and negotiation skills, managing the renewal process through strategic planning to create new business, account expansion and cross sell opportunities. Underwriting includes P&C Technology & Life Science industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages and Underwrites a Small Commercial Technology book of business

  • Seamlessly applies all applicable E&O Underwriting guidelines when making decisions

  • Has good knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and governance

  • Consults with Subject Matter Experts on complex accounts

  • Responsible for risk-reward outcomes using pricing and underwriting tools as guidance

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to the agency

  • Partners with other underwriters in an assigned territory to drive better results and build deeper Hartford agency relationships

  • Consults with the agents to answer questions regarding coverage

  • Is responsive to the needs of internal and external customers, delivering excellent service in a timely fashion.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience

  • 2 + years of Property and Casualty Carrier Technology E&O underwriting experience is required

  • Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with all internal and external business partners

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

  • An ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations and propose solutions

  • High energy self-starter, who is resilient and has an entrepreneurial spirit

  • Demonstration of solid time, organizational, and desk management skills

  • Goal-oriented and delivers outcomes

  • Ability to challenge the status quo and compete to win

    The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement.  Candidates who live near one of our hub office locations (Hartford, CT, Clinton, NY, Charlotte, NC, San Antonio, TX, Scottsdale, AZ) will have the expectation of working in an office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$66,640 - $121,680
